There are definitely lengthy scenes that don't advance plot or storyline. What do you call these? "Showoff" jumps to mind, intentionally ... stepping outside storytelling just to make something pretty.

Which is awesome.

The scene of Mike digging .... I get I, I get it, I get it ... but don't change it because of that. One great thing about BCS is that it is complex and has a lot to offer. Including a fast moving story and artsy scenes ... As with BB, I remain fascinated with these shows' use of half-shadowed faces...

One great thing is that many/most viewers' knowledge of BB allows the people making BCS to do a lot of fun things. We know the outcome of scenes because we've seen those characters in the future ...

Geeking out. .... I was wow'd. Odenkirk is exceptional.

omg the scene where he has the breakdown/absolute honesty in the legal insurance office and it turns on him .... I didn't dig the next story jump--that moment leads to directly to conflict at the firm ... but just in and of itself that scene was powerful. We like Jimmy. We finally see him open and honest, and it immediately turns against him. ...

Actually ... mirror that with Chuck's S3 ender honesty, which also immediately turns against him. .... huh.

Top 10? Who knows. TV got so f'ing good in the last decade, who even knows. I still tell people Northern Exposure was one of the all-time great TV shows but that's like another era compared to what we've got now.

Don't forget, folks: TV really sucked, only 20 or so years ago. Now it seems everything is at least well-made.
And don't forget this [probably will] in 2038 when everything you love now seems trite.

character is story.

That breakdown in the insurance office might have started as Jimmy showing his true feelings, but the end result was calculated.

Huh. I dunno ... he's not there for a calculated reason though. Or the show didn't play it that way. But yeah, maybe so. I can see that. ... kinda makes the scene lose something for me, to see it that way.

I went looking for that insurance office scene. Didn't find it.

Found this tho, thought it was interesting: Jimmy tells Chuck, "You're going to die alone." Scene opens with a match being lit.

I thought of this too, given that he only took one shot.

That's what I was thinking. I assume Mike is capable of remembering which shoe he put the stuff in.

Rewatched this and the one plot point nagging me is that
I just dont believe that Jimmy could not find a way to reunite the
old ladies without blowing his "cover"

Related, I dont believe them old bittys were so mean that after being explained that old lady didnt realize how important the money was to them and after all she did end up taking the settlement that they wouldnt forgive.

Returns Monday, August 6. I imagine they will be running a Marathon prior.

My Dad is a big Breaking Bad fan but told me yesterday he hasn't seen Better Call Saul. Was I justified in slapping him and telling him he couldn't leave the room until he finished season 1? Or is that elder abuse?

Depends on how old your dad is.

I just did a rewatch of season 3 last week, I'm stoked for season 4! This and GoT are just about the only shows left that I watch as soon as they air these days.

Pre-retirement age is fair game imo.

I get why some BB fans don’t enjoy BCS as much, but not even starting to watch it makes little sense. Unless you love BB except for everything Saul Goodman, but that would be kinda weird imo.
