didn't he allude to Walter that he had and could again arrange for ppl to "go away" permanently?

I wonder though if we might discover Saul never had someone "go away" by killing them. He said that to Walt knowing the implication, but we'll see in this show that he made someone "go away" by helping them relocate and assume a new identity. Perhaps this is how he first hooks up with the guy who later helps Saul and Walt relocate.

I could be way off. I don't remember a lot of BB.

I remember a reference to "Old Yeller" and going "on a trip to Belize" in reference to Jesse and Hank.

Saul also thought they should have Badger murdered in prison and it seemed pretty standard to him.

And that's when Badger was supposed to be his client.

I don't think Saul has any doubts that he will be successful in a life of "crime". Certainly he can make more money than if he was legit, and he doesn't have to suck up to the man either.

I don't see how there is any other choice for him.
Lol saying "huh?" implies that my opinion is so off the wall that you can't even rationalize my perspective. My point is: Option A is amazing career path right in front of your face and Option B is an undefined professional life of crime that could very well not yield more money. Before coming across the $1.4M Jimmy was scamming people for a couple hundred bucks of which he was splitting with a partner. Through legitimate work he made $20k plus a 20% stake of a potential $20M class action settlement. That's many many multiples greater than even the $1.4M he would've stolen with Mike. Not to mention that 1.4 isn't even on the table.

So your argument that it's conceivable he's going to make more money in crime based on the events of his life up until this point is completely absurd.

This times a billion. His abrupt change of heart felt rushed, forced, and not terribly logical. Great show, but not a great season 1 finale.

I agree with your general point in the rest of your post but his cut of a $20m settlement would not be many multiples greater than $1.4m.

The "huh?" was a reaction to you framing the choice as amazing career vs. "abstract" life of crime, as if Saul only has a theoretical understanding of how a life of crime could work for him. I tried to make this clear by adding emphasis and clipping your post in my quote at the point I was addressing with the "huh?". Sorry if you didn't pick up on that. I guess TV shows aren't the only medium where your comprehension is lacking. FYI the word "abstract" connotes the idea of no real world experience. Even at this point, Saul has associations with two career criminals (Nacho & Mike) that he could use. We also know that he is a qualified lawyer and has a knack for creative interpretation/usage of the law. We also know that he has previously lived a life of crime. Although scamming marks out of $100 here and there is not in the same league, it's experience that shouldn't be discounted. So abstract isn't the right word. He has a damn good idea about what makes a good criminal.

It really isn't. For one thing, you see this happen in BB. Not bad for inconceivable. Even if we didn't know that it actually happens, I don't know how you can deny that the opportunity is there for him. As I said in my last post, for all we know he might have his first criminal deal already lined up. I don't think this is a gigantic leap.

Saul's "sudden" change of heart to walk away from the legit law firm opportunity was completely logical and within character to me. What was he doing when he made the switch? He was rehearsing his introduction to the partners at the new firm, psyching himself up to essentially come across as something he wasn't. At first, I thought he was prepping himself just like he did before court in the early eps. But in retrospect, even then he was practicing to fool the judge/jury that he was a real attorney.

After coming off a week when he was his true self, scamming and having a blast, he realized he didn't need to be someone he's not anymore. I can imagine his internal dialogue being something like, "WTF am I doing? Why am I trying to impress people I don't give a **** about? I'm rehearsing how I introduce myself? F it, I'm out..."

The whole season was about this internal struggle. Once Chuck crapped on him, he didn't have anybody else he cared about impressing, not even Kim.

The final episode wasn't as exciting as the rest, but it completed a season long story and set things up for next season. His change of heart at the end was completely logical and not at all rushed or abrupt, IMO.

Guys, I'm closing my eyes and not reading anything; can somebody who might know tell me when this is coming out on US Netflix? More importantly, can somebody explain why when I google "Better Call Saul US Netflix release date", I get no ****ing results, just articles from February saying that it's going to be released in the UK first and that it will come out on US Netflix a few days after the finale airs on AMC? What's a few days after the finale, didn't the finale air on the 6th?

Not great. Not bad bad either. I wouldn't go back and watch it again.

Out of the entire season there were only 4 good scenes 1. Saul confronts brother 2. Sauls friend final episode begging for one more Rolex. 3. conversation after the drug deal 4. Conversation with daughter in law about his son

I don't agree but the premise of the show is people don't/ can't change.

-trout still does dirty work
-Saul is still Saul even after repeatedly trying to change
-trouts son couldn't change and he's killed because of it
-sauls brother is still a dick
- sauls friend didn't change

I'm looking forward to s2, hopefully the pace picks up.

I finally got round to marathoning this over the weekend. It's excellently done, Saul/Mike are terrific, and I think it has great potential. I'm looking forward to next season.

However, I just don't really feel invested in it at all. While both Mike and Saul's stories had some brilliant moments, they just haven't interested me much this season.

Saul's big court case was ok but felt like an episode of Suits. His brother's disease thing was silly, and while his betrayal was a bit of a surprise, when it happened I really didn't care. Same when Saul's friend died.

Like I said though, I think the show has huge potential and I hope, like BB, they can really get it going from a slow start.
