FRIEND: No. All I've seen was Bryan Cranston talking about watching the pilot with his wife....Saul has a wife and kids? I didn't see them in the pilot.

ME: (facepalm)

Nail salon probably closes at 8-9 so he can't get into his office all the time. When it's later he goes to Chuck's.

I am probably one of the few on here that would like to see fewer overt connections with Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad provided a great platform for Better Caul Saul and some of the same characters, similar videography, locations, etc gave us a comfortable context for the series to start with.

In the end, though, the series needs to survive on its own. I really don't want to be one of the viewers watching this in the hopes of seeing links to Breaking Bad. It would be like hoping for some last glimpses of my super-hot ex-girlfriend. She's gone - get over it.

I think it will serve the show better if it has a few subtle connections with BB but nothing more.

Just watched the first two eps - very good stuff. As others have said the first half of ep 2 in particular was top notch.

I do want to see Bagdon(sp).

Damn this show is only going to be aired on Mondays. Isnt that going to significantly hurt the ratings ?

Already renewed for a second season, and its Monday ratings last week were more than double what it would need to get renewed if it hadn't been already. I don't expect it to drop much more than it has.

Just got back in the U.S. so just watched the first two episodes last night.

Like many, I thought it was going to be a dark comedy, not a drama. Seems like a nice mix, throwing in comedic elements in what's overall a drama.

I kind expected Jimmy to be this meek, colorless guy who builds up into Saul. I can see the character of off-the-cuff remarks and general wiseassness are already there. (Are there stripper poles in mosques?)

In the cold open: when Saul was starting the videotape, the camera was positioned behind the couch a little bit. It seemed to me like it was a bit out-of-focus, and then as soon as the audio (and presumably the video) started, it snapped into focus on Saul. As if saying, "hey, that's who I really am." Over (mis) analyzing?

The plea bargaining with Tuco was awesome. Loved the line about being the best lawyer in the world.

Very much enjoyed. Disappointed it'll be a Monday night thing instead of Sundays, got up this morning looking forward to seeing one tonight.

Better Call Saul might just become my favorite show to watch.

I think Chuck's problem is going to turn out to be a psychosomatic reaction to unethical practices at his firm that he was forced to keep quiet about or participate in.

Ok the Dr Seuss roast beast reference was awesome.

I wasn't sold on the first two episodes, but I liked this one a lot. I feel like this was more distant from BB than the first two, and I enjoyed that.

I would be kind of okay with this show becoming standalone episodes of Saul representing a motley series of wacked out defendants. But I don't think we can get that.

That episode was great!

Watched season 1 of Peaky Blinders this week too, so I guess I've had a couple of great days of TV. I should get staph infections more often!

Really enjoying the fun vibe of this show three episodes in; major kudos to Vince Gilligan.

YTF: My read was that he lives at Chucks but has the option to crash at the office as needed. I thought he was just taking a night off from his crazy space blanket shenanigans.

Find it interesting that Saul's demeanour throughout the show is strikingly similar to Walt's at the start of BB. Nervous as hell, but having the guts to push through. It'll be interesting to see how Saul develops over the course of this series, as we're all more familiar with his over-the-top self confidence and general ridiculousness. Tbh I always saw that as an exaggerated cover though.

Bring on episode 4!
