Damn, I was hoping University of American Samoa was real. Imagine the product placement opportunity here.
Has anybody looked back to BB to see if he has an American Samoa diploma on his wall in any scenes?

The page I linked is dated 8/30/2013, so they must have gotten the info from BB.

Just watching BB for the first time, about halfway through season 4, and I found it amusing that when Jesse is along for the stakeout job with Mike, what does Mike offer him to eat? A pimento cheese sandwich.

Sometimes to look back you need to look forward

Was late to Monday's episode but wow, ****ing incredible. Trevor's appearance was GOAT, the heel turn by Chuck and that final speech to Jimmy was just insane, wow.

Interesting that the diploma has "Saul Goodman" on it and not "Jimmy McGill."

Oversight but easily explained - I'd assume a lot of schools would happily ship you a replacement diploma after a name change, provided you give them a little paperwork and pay the fee again.

Brown U and Princeton won't let you put a new name on a replacement now that I check, but some random school offering a JD by correspondence would probably take your $50 and ask if you have any nicknames.

Google "fake law diploma". This show takes place fairly recently (see cell phones), it's not like it would exactly be difficult printing up a fake.

edit: I forgot he got his degree online from the University of American Samoa. Even easier to fake.

Gad, on a personal note, I wonder how many people in my industry have real degrees. The degree makes a definite difference in salary, but almost none in the ability to do the work.

There are still 5 states which do not require law school for bar admission. Thank you Wikipedia, where you learn just as much law.

When Jimmy turns down HHM's offer, why wouldn't he just go to some big firm in NYC or LA for manpower? It seems like they were trying to say he had to choose between the non-partner offer and going it alone, and there was no third choice. He said bringing a case like this to a big firm was an automatic partnership, so when it didn't work out with HHM ( which he only wanted to join because of Chuck anyway,) why not go to a bigger one and flip off Chuck a nd Hamlin?

That exact question is probably where Chuck's copier code is supposed to get HHM the case. I think he always meant to screw Jimmy. He's not a good guy at all.

The last two episodes was amazing. I had a laugh at the "protection detail", the guy on the left, who did all the weaponstalking looked exactly like a mashup of Bruce Campbell (Ash character in Evil Dead) and Matt Dillon in Theres something about Mary. I loved that scene, his fake úberwhite teeth grin, really dirty tan and the whole attire. So tryhard with combatboots and wintercamos.

I was wondering the same thing as well. The situation seems more like a false dilemma falacy more than anything. However, I was willing to overlook this for the sake of the story/show.

It only has to be a dilemna in Jimmy's mind. We're showed that he's always wanted in HHM, next to big brother's office, near Law Barbie, and on equal footing with Hamlin.

I'm jealous now as it seems you've never personally encountered someone like this irl. Chuck's resentment and hiding behind the "law" is textbook rationalization for some deep seeded hatred/jealousy of Jimmy. As you wrote in a later post, this difference in view might just be a matter of semantics.

Was a great episode. Hope the finale is just as good

I don't think that in the heat of the moment Chuck came up with the copier code as some type of scam. Chuck was already involved with Jimmy on the case, and he (and by extension, HHM) would have had a claim to part of the case regardless of a copier code.

And everyone is forgetting that without Chuck's help Jimmy would have been lucky to get anything more than a token settlement from the assisted living chain, since Jimmy was barely able to piece together any of the shredded documents, much less realize he had a multi-million dollar case brewing with RICO implications.

As noted already, the deal HHM offered Jimmy appeared to be fair from a financial standpoint, even if it was hurtful that it was predicated on Jimmy not being allowed to actively remain on the case.

Sadly I thought that was one of the weakest episodes of the season but looks like we will be entering full Saul mode next season. Curious to see how many of the characters we've met will still be playing a major role or if it will basically just be Saul and mike.
