One of the weaker episodes for me this season but I'll def. have to rewatch the rant and also the scene where Cousineau goes through Barry's audition with him.
I feel like I need to become an actor to truly appreciate this show's greatness. I wonder how many nuggets a non-Hollywood person misses per episode?
This is the best show on TV.
I think Jerry Roach (producer for the movie of Barry's audition?) appeared in the credits so we probably missed a cameo there. But he's not really famous as far as I'm concerned.
Don't get me wrong, I think the actress who plays the GF is amazing - it's her character I don't like. She reminds me of every wannabe actress in LA I dated. They "act" kind and concerned, but everything - absolutely everything - is always about them.
I think that's exactly what the writers are going for. She's supposed to be an anxious petty narcissist, in the most normal unremarkable way.
I totally thought Fuchs was planning to tell/show Cousineau that Barry killed his woman to get back at Barry for all the **** talking. Then I was like "oh he's gonna kill him? Why? He's just jelly that Barry wants to go to acting classes instead of be a hitman?"
Rewatching while not drunk and the gf is a pretty spot on representation of how playing that hollywood acting game will make you an insane narcissist. I know nothing about that world but from the podcasts I listen to with people living in and around that world it seems like a perfect fit and is hilarious when Barry and gf are rehearsing. I've hated that character for a while now but you can see that her mind has gone thru the meatgrinder in that scene.
Jay Roach (not Jerry) is a real director....he did Meet the Parents and the Austin Powers movies. He's also the luck bastard who married Susanna Hoffs of the Bangles, who looks like this now:
