Only thing I remember in the first season was in the very first episode they had a challenge to throw torches into a bonfire pit that would then light and the flame would have to get taller to ignite a fuse. But the wind was really strong and they had to cancel the challenge and had a boring trivia challenge instead. Also had a person vote themself out that episode
Oh, didn't know that. Was already planning to check out first 2 seasons after this, but i'll take a rain check now.

Yeah definitely not worth it, this is a massive, massive step up in comparison

One of the best seasons of survivor I can remember. Too early to say but for me it compares to Heroes vs Villains as my favorite as of right now.

Loving Phoebe. If this continues she could go down as one of the best ever. Easily already top 5 women ever.

Another excellent episode from Phoebe. So good to see someone pull off a multi level play and have it work. I definitely think Craig was the right choice to target. Despite all that she still isn't in the best spot. Time may tell whether it was better to keep her idol for one more tribal or keep a close ally in the game. If she wanted I believe she would have been able to get them to split the vote and convinced Kristie to not vote for her giving her the chance to vote out Kristie.

I am still holding out for the one time that someone takes this sort of idol play to the next level. IMO the optimal play would have been to split their two votes on Craig and Conner forcing a tied vote. Phoebe and Kristie vote for Craig on the revote. It's at this point that the plan can go several different ways. The best case is that Kate votes out Craig and Sue votes for Conner. If the vote is tied again then it goes to the discussion for the unanimous vote and at that point let the group know that either Craig is the one going home or it's going to rocks (Phoebe is immune due to HII).

The result being that when they get back to camp the remaining three players from the Vavau alliance have their allegiances fractured.

i thought craig was a bit of an ahole, but he was all class when he got voted out. i give him props for that.

pheobe is in a terrible spot, but she has played about as well as she could have.

it's too bad these two tribes have been so lopsided. it would have been nice to see vavau win one or two. losing 7 in a row is ridiculous. but it's still been a terrific season.

That's just silly FPS imo. The optimal play is to get out who YOU want out given the choice. Clearly Phoebe does not want to lose Conner as he's someone who can potentially work with her. I'm guessing Phoebe and Kristie decided on Craig to go because they viewed him as the glue and heart/soul of the alliance. Getting rid of him fractures that. Phoebe would have a better understanding of their group dynamics than we do.

By splitting the votes, the decision on who goes is no longer in your hands and can even go to rocks. Don't like this at all. IMO Phoebe played it optimally. I would've like someone like Sue to go but I'm guessing they viewed Craig as someone who they couldn't work with so he had to go.

There could also be a merge coming up as Vavaau now only have 5 members. Seems like a perfect spot to mix it up again. No point letting this tribe whither away down to 4 members. That could've been a factor as well as Pheobe and Kristie thought it might not be necessary to keep Craig in the game if there's going to be a merge imminent anyways.

Previews are usually BS but if Phoebe can pin the next target on Kristie rather than herself, I'll be massively impressed, even though, I think tomorrow will be her last episode.

Sad to see Craig go but really showed class when he was out, real love for the game.

that vavau alliance was so strong before the three tribe merge. they got destroyed. it was the biggest strongest alliance in the game. now it's in tatters.

Just split the votes imo. Even if there's a less than 1% chance go for it.

You've also had the clue to the HII for 6 days which you haven't found and haven't even considered the possibility that someone else might have it...

I was thinking the same as JB91, that splitting the votes could've been a good move. It's not really FPS, it creates fractures in the remaining 3 people which is exactly what they need. I think if they vote Sue and Kate, that in the revote Craig goes Kate and Connor goes Sue. Phoebe/Christie can both go for Kate, and now suddenly there's an awkward spot for Connor. If Phoebe keeps working that crack I can see her sway Connor.

It's definitely a long shot since Sue would probably understand and reassure Connor it's cool, but still, it's worth a shot. It also keeps the 2 men in giving slightly more equity in the next challenge.

Also was hoping that Phoebe would pull out her idol and hang it around her neck before voting, since she was the last to vote. That would've been so amazing to watch.

That was a pretty **** twist.

Disappointed that they didn't do a tribe swap.

garbage twist.

I didn't like the twist either, would've been more fun if Brooke had an extra vote in the tribal or remove one vote, this simply doesn't accomplish anything.

Only potential upside for me would be if Saanapu throws the challenge "tomorrow" to vote out Sue on the spot while chaos, no pun intended, ensues because some want to vote out Kylie or even Matt.

It's a shame LaPaglia decided to blow up Phoebe's game at TC like that.

I'm tired of seeing the same tribe win and win and win some more so not a fan of this twist. I'm ready for the real merge.

Its now the second time she has gone to tribal where she has put a plan in place to vote someone out and had the vote cancelled. Some rough luck for sure.

i was rooting hard for vavau to win that challenge.

it was telling to see the looks of concern on sanaapu's faces. especially nick. he really felt for vavau losing. that was nice.

i read that the crew for this show is half the size of the american crew. and they commute 2 hour back and forth from the cast aways to their accommodations.

if it were me, i think i'd just sleep in a tent rather than commute all that way.

i wonder if that means no one films them at night. i don't think we've seen any middle of the night shots like we do on the american show

I'm sure they are filming at night. We just seen night shots at the start of epis 12.

my memory is really bad. i remember shots of them when they are getting ready to go to sleep. but i don't remember any shots of them struggling through the middle of the night, and it's day 29 or whatever already.

maybe that old guy who had to quit because he couldn't sleep? maybe they showed him struggling in the middle of the night?

or when the tide rolled in and flooded camp lol, was that in the middle of the night?

Holy **** that twist was lame.

Any chance they did that because Kristie is a fan favourite and they wanted to save her? Because I see absolutely no reason why this twist would be fun or interesting at all.

+1 to Nicks genuine concern, he seems like an awesome, well rounded person. However Kylie's super fake applause and "well done guys great effort" tilted the **** out of me.
