Spoilers episode 18:
Spoiler:
I did not see that one coming, gg Benji, you got served. Surprisingly even Fenella voted for Benji in the end.
After a couple episodes of boredom the season has picked up this week. If Brian plays his cards right and puts himself into the finals with a combo Shanella or Mon he actually might win this.

God I hate Mat and everything to do with his storyline. Why is everyone so dead serious about him being voted out? Why is Steve talking like he lost his kid in a car accident? Why is Mat looking like they murdered his whole family?

They weren't even trying to hide the fact the 4some of champions were buddy buddy, yet they're extremely flabbergasted one of them got voted out. We have a goddamn 70+ year old woman throwing a temper tantrum and sabotaging the fire for gods sake. What in the actual **** is going on?

Benji messed up pretty bad imo. Once Shonee told him about the vote steal he should have realised that if he played his idol this tribal and then used the vote steal at the next tribal they would have been almost guaranteed to get to final 6 with a strong 3 person alliance.

Season is getting good now. No one is super good at the game, but that makes it fun to watch. Brian is starting to get a lot of content so it's probably either winning or he's out next week, if he makes in through I think he'll be the one to beat.

Spoilers episode 19 and 20:
Spoiler:
Not sure why they've chosen to vote out Steve right away since he'll be DMW for two consecutive tribal councils. Would've been much safer to vote an actual number out right away. Individual immunity challenges seem fair enough to not have Steve run the table for the rest of the way. They've not even shown any discussion about it really. Most of the strategic talk is very first level.

Monica has an interesting approach. Every time somebody asks her whether she's on board she always agrees and says she's 100% in. This week this really got to her since she's probably the one making the most false promises.

Grubby is getting such a neg-edit this week I'm not quite sure what to make of it. Fenella total purple edit didn't really help her odds of winning either. That being said I liked Brian's comment about Steve opening his mouth for the first time in over 40 days.

Yeah Grubby didn't end up having a great week. Seems like Shonee might be the favourite to win now. Shonella's UTR strategy doesn't make for great tv but it is working very well.

I loved Brian shutting Shane down at tribal council.

Amazing to see the difference between an Olympic swimmer (even though she’s 61) and an average joe in the water challenges

Spoiler to episode 21 (Monday episode):
Spoiler:
OMG, how do you mess up a simple no-risk vote-split???? Epic fail, he doesn't deserve to win this anymore.

I really don't think it was that bad of a move.

He has his own idol so the risk of Sharn having one is diminished. If he doesn't believe she has an idol then her only way of staying in the game is if they split the vote and Sharn votes for Shane. If she does play an idol then he isn't at risk because of the immunity necklace and getting out one of Shonee, Fenella and Monika is probably better for him than getting Shane out.

In a final 4 scenario with those three girls he was most likely the person that was going to be targeted. Now however one of Shane and Sharn will be there and I'm sure Monika and Shonee are aware that having either of those two get to the end is a sure way to lose.

I really hope Shane doesn't win, rest is at least somewhat deserving in my book.

Sharn: She definitely deserves it the most. She is the only one that actually worked on social relationships outside her alliance, kept the champions safe during tribe swap and seems decently aware of what's going on (except the Benji thing but I really think Benji valued their alliance as well but just had no choice but to screw her over to get out Mat)

Shonee: Played a decent under-the-radar game, actually won a challenge and put up a good fight and seems to be decently fun as a person, making jokes with Jonathan during challenges etc, which is just crucial in a social game like this.

Brian: I don't think he's terrible, but he definitely has Russell issues in that he thinks he's the **** and refuses to do a little bit of faking in order to have some basic social relationships. There's times where his attitude definitely helped him because he's not scared to tell what his plans are so you know he won't be scheming behind your back. If you think he's being "sly" like Shane your social skills are just beyond terrible because his facial expressions tell you everything you need to know and if he's not responsive it's clear as day he doesn't wanna work with you. That being said, he definitely ****ed up last 2 episodes by not caring enough and working towards getting jury votes.

Shane: She seems to be the only one who thinks she's playing a great game when in reality she's doing... nothing? At least that's what it seems like based on edits. She praises herself for being a "double agent" when in reality nobody really spoke to her at all, she didn't even talk to monica until like 2 weeks ago because she "doesn't like her" (her own words) She just sits there having fake awkward conversations with people that have nothing in common with her while Sharn is running around working her ass off to get **** done.

Spoiler finale obviously:
Spoiler:
I did not expect that at all.

Sharn really dug herself into a hole in the FTC.

Got to give Shane credit, she didn't flinch on any of the yes or no questions and answered confident while Sharn in typical lawyer-style tried to avoid giving specifics at any corner or avoid the answer while preaching her loyalty pitch that nobody bought.

Neither of them actually gave any specifics of their game/moves so I can see how Shane got to be the default winner by that logic.
I was surprised that Steve didn't vote for Shane.

Overall, I enjoyed the season. Brian and Shonella pretty much saved the season in the later episodes. Credits to the editors, they've balanced the edit pretty well and never gave me a clear picture who's the obvious winner.

**** me

Then again Sharn just blew it herself. I really don't understand why she started begging and getting defensive all of a sudden. Just say "I heard a very vague rumor but didn't buy it for a second and didn't want to create chaos, but DURING tribal I got more suspicious so I decided to play MY idol FOR Matt. If that's not being loyal I dunno what is".

I'm gonna go ahead and assume the 50 day experience took a big toll on cognitive functions and since everyone just gave Shane yes/no questions there wasn't much room for her to **** up. Shane's opening pitch was terrible as well, they just went easy on her cos she's not a lawyer.

Also damn, Grubby really surprised me he definitely knows how to give people a hard time. Not so sure he would've lost to Sharn there either.

Na that jury was obsessed with integrity and honestly (except for Benji and Sam). That's how Shane won, they saw her as a nice person who didn't screw anyone over (except for people they wanted gone anyway like Jacqui and Lydia). Brian might get the contenders but I think all the champions go Sharn.

Spoiler:
Great season so far and great characters.

Why do you make up a fake child when you don't know anything about it.

You cannot fool parents that way and parents LOVE to share every detail about it and want to know every detail about it in return.

When the letters from home come into play how would you explain that there's ZERO mention of your child?

It's one thing to lie about your profession which is hard enough unless you really put the research in beforehand.
At some point it's hard to keep track of all your lies.

David is such a great villain that I'm glad he survived. He's obviously playing too hard and will be booted shortly after the merge the latest but he's great TV and I love to hate him.
Same with Matt, he's such a fool and gets so mad when he loses. It always made me smile when he lost another duel with Luke by being outsmarted like in the statue-challenge.

What a win in the immunity challenge. That was incredibly hard. I don't even know if that challenge would've had a winner at all if one team had no throwing machine like Simon and a breath-holding machine like Ross.
I think at some point they would've needed to open up the goals for both teams or the challenge would've lasted hours.

What a clash and what a great tribal council with a little twist and the end. Nice that we didn't lose any of those exciting players.

I've no idea who's going to win this but I'm very much entertained. South African season is a bit of a snooze fest but this is great right out of the gate.

I am slowly going from hate to love to love to love.

The way he embraces his villain role is fun to watch.

By the way, how has nobody had the urge to make a comment that all the popcorn already on the floor?
"The people are sooooo duuumb!" - David 2019

Luke crying while shoving the most amount of popcorn possible into his face was one of the very few moments of "message from home" I ever enjoyed.

Spoiler:
Poor Ross, that looked painful.
That was a very improbable section of this parkour where I would've guessed somebody would injure oneself.
Glad Harry is around for a bit more. Now that merge is (possibly) around the corner there will be a good chance he will be around for a bit since the big guns are going for each other.
I think this whole episode was a big fake-out and setup and contenders and champions are going to vote along original tribal lines for at least one vote and the champions are going to fall behind further. The story of a contender is going to win is shoved down our throats so much that there're only two real scenarios: The contenders are going to wipe the field or one single champion is left in the end while barely staying in the game and surprisingly going to win it.

Spoiler:
That didn't go as I expected it to go but it certainly sets up a couple of possibly interesting episodes.
You've got three couples in Luke and Dave, Shaun and Daisy, Janine and Pia with a couple disposable pieces to move around and a wildcard in Harry so there're lots of possibilities.

Nice job from Luke, Dave and some other champions to plant the seed and have the contenders drop one of their own.

Big episode for Pia, she was praised very hard all episode why having almost no impact on the outcome of this episode whatsoever. My edit-sense was tingling very hard all episode.
