Russell is seriously the most overrated player in history. If he was even remotely decent socially he wouldn't have had to try and pull off some sick meta move which is risky on day 33 let alone day 3.

Think the contender women are going to be the ones to watch, Paige and Tegan especially. All the physical threats will come for each other at some point and they will just have to get out of the way.

Why is everyone always so black & white when it comes to rating players.

Russell isn't great, but he also isn't bad. He obviously had a gigantic target on his back, lol @ thinking there is anything he can do socially to salvage his reputation. He could have genuinely turned in a nice person and it still wouldn't have mattered cos nobody would buy it.

He did what he could, which is basically finding an idol, using it to create cracks and then figuring out how to capitalize on those cracks. Not playing it was most likely the correct move as well.

I'm pretty okay with him being gone though. He's good TV but he felt so out of place in this season.

He isn't the worst player ever and he was creative and revolutionary but the notion that he's the best player of all time like he pumps himself up to be has to be dead and gone.

Also according to Samuel (the nerdy guy) none of them knew who he was because none of them were fans. I thought it was a rather pathetic run and tbh I can't think of a Survivor who's buried their reputation worse than Russell has over his last two seasons.

You could say JT but at least he still won a game and his HvV game actually has legitimately good moments, even in Game Changers people wanted to work with him.

Watched AU survivor last 2(?) seasons and it's been alright. Learning that King Russ was on this season and there's already a few epis out got me hyped...

Spoiler:
Dude seemed to have no chance, nobody was really talking with him he would just talk at them. Also was really hoping he'd play the idol... He can always find a new one...RIP

Australian Survivor is just so long, playing hard from the start is usually a bad idea.
Russell should've played it much slower and made a few solid alliances with those who (over-)value challenge strength. I wish we had a few more days of him. His remark of bringing two wedding rings of his imaginary wife had me laughing out loud.
Since people compare notes, probably a bad idea to hand out both right at the start.

Episode 3 and 4:
Spoiler:
The poker player is probably on borrowed time, better have that switch soon or keep winning.

That pole challenge is so dangerous, I'd be the first to raise the hand to sit that one out. Everybody pulling all kind of joints in all kind of directions, getting jumped on while all kind of joints exposed, I'm almost surprised nobody else got hurt.

That being said, overall the challenges have been great, so versatile, lots of technique and strategy how to approach certain aspects to hide your weaknesses over just brute strength. I hope they can keep that run going.

Samuel is fun to watch, always brings something entertaining to the table.
Mat and Moana getting a lot of screen-time.

What is up with Zach's weird pants? Are those really practical? I don't remember anyone on Survivor having those on constantly.

Looks like the women on the contenders are running the show now, Steve was just the lowest end of that alliance. He did a good job integrating with the men the last few days recovering from his early bad impression. Just fell on the wrong side of the numbers.
Not sure where Paige stands right now, she wasn't in on the vote on either side.

Episode 4 tribal council

Spoiler:
HOLY **** THE EDITORS ARE THE WORST.. when they’re walking to tribal council and they had Steve voiceover “this is going to be the biggest blindside ever and I’m laughing about it” you knew straight away he was the one getting blindsided

The music is way too much and makes the whole show a little pretentious and campy. Epic music from start to end for every occasion no matter how big or small every single episode... Even when people are laughing they are playing this sinister inception style music in the background. 30+ hours of this is way too much for me. I'd rather give bachelor Australia a chance.

I'm still enjoying the show but agree that the music is rly annoying at times.

Samuel surprisingly entertaining for being a huge nerd. He keeps grabbing every opportunity to do a Zach impression it's hilarious.

Really liked last (E8) immunity challenge. It's also refreshing that they still have original tribes.

Having Exile Island is a bit of a bummer but they have to stretch it a bit to make more episodes since they need a couple non-elimination episodes so I'm fine with it in general.

Game play probably will be a bit on the slower side this season but overall I do like the cast.
Zach is such a great tool of a human being, I love how they capture all his douchiness in almost every single episode. When they had all the closeups of his face when they were losing a challenge I was dying in laughter.

When they had four episodes it felt a bit much, now that there's only two I want MORE especially since the South African season has just ended!

Spoiler:
How the **** did Tom win. I thought he was drawing dead so early in the game. Kind of happy about it though.

Spoiler to SA finale:
Spoiler:
Yeah, it was shocking. The editors trashed all of the final three so much but especially Tom which made the Werner vote-off such a shock.

Jeanne really had a major melt-down. Insisting on relying on major portions of luck and not taking credit for anything, especially voting out the clear best player Werner, was a huge mistake.
Even when they dug deeper she gave all the wrong answers.
I don't know how many of those votes were live (I've not watched the reunion show, yet) but starting from taking Werner off the board and not attacking Tom playing even less of a strategic game while making it insufferable to be around him 24/7 didn't do any good.

Back to Australian Survivor episode 09.

Spoiler:
I got to say I'm going to miss Zacy. He was a great player to hate.
Why did they even put the two big lads on the vertical maze instead of getting water?

At least Benji was smart enough to cut ties with his shield and vote with the majority.
No idea if he can dig himself out of that hole again, though, he gave some really incoherent justifications for his lies or denied them altogether.

They really put on some big time music again when during the discussions on the Contenders tribe. I usually don't pay too much attention to it but they turned it up so much I barely could follow the dialogue and it felt out of place.

Finally all caught up to ep 9. This season is okay, not as great as last season. Rooting for Benji ATM.

how did they not know to look under the food on the plate for the clue? Im guessing none of them watched the US survivor where it happened

A lot of these players are recruits and has no idea how the game works so it's understandable. I wouldn't expect them to know this and just takes things at face value on what Jonathon tells them. Anyone who knows the game should know that there's an idol/advantage hidden there when they're told to go one on one for the reward.

I've been watching WAY too much survivor and when I saw the giant pile of nachos, it was the first thing that was on my mind to look there. Benji is pretty dumb for not getting rid of the plate. He got lucky that everyone else wasn't a fan of the show.

Regarding the SA finale:

Spoiler:
Has there ever been a better hustle than what Werner did during F4? As presented, Werner was the obvious biggest target and of course should have been booted.

If this were any other season, I think we would have only seen Werner trying to convince d*mbass Tom to vote Annalize, resulting in a 2-2 tie. Instead he tries to conspire with Annalize to vote out Tom! Of course, this would only be possible if one of your opponents is Tom-level caliber. When has there ever been an attempt to vote out the F4 "swing vote"? (I can only think of Dan's BB14 F4 hustle).

Great hustle (and great editing) even though it failed.

It's crazy how many people they cast in both NZ and Aus who hadn't even bothered to watch the most recent US season before they played. Like how slack are you?

Music is very LOL worthy I agree. Also the sections where the Champions are talking about their achievements are mostly boring except surprisingly with Lydia.

Spoilers including ep 14:

Spoiler:
I didn't expect a food auction so early, that was surprising, yet, still very entertaining. Nice little change to the classic merge-feast. How can you bid 250 Aussie dollars in 20 dollar increments? Brian getting the bowl of rice was gold, too.

What an epic challenge win by Sharn using such unconventional positions which were perfect for the starting rain where Lydia failed to adjust and actually use the pegs. One of the biggest upsets in Survivor history IMHO.

Not gonna lie I was a bit worried about my girls Fanella and Shonee for a while but it worked out in the end. I wish they would team up with Sam but for him it feels like his best bet to stick with all his champions meat-shields as long as possible.

Samuel has such great responses, if he showed any of that in his confessionals, too, he'd be even more entertaining. His little back and forth with Jonathan in most episodes are pure gold.

Mondays episode 17 spoilers:

Spoiler:
Wow, what a move. Talking her out of that idol might've cost Sharn any jury credibility in case of a potential tribal council.

We'll probably see a pretty boring episode tomorrow with Steve or Shane going but this episode was worth it.

Benji really maximized the value of his security blanket by the winning of the necklace. Flushing two idols and the biggest threat out of the game in one big swoop.

Mat probably was too cocky in the end to re-affirm Sharn to play it on him but I guess he thought Brian was going either way.
