Well in season 4 and 5 I had confidently predicted the winner by episode 3 due to the shoddy nature of the editing.

Seems like they have learnt by their editing mistakes, at least so far, with Flick loosely having the most winner'y edit so far.

I do wish they would stop with their over the top sport stunt casting though. Puts way too much focus on physical challenge performance meaning often the more interesting personalities and strategists get sniped out early as collateral damage.

Wasn't there a Flick in a previous season? I think it was s3, the only season I watched. Same person or just a common Aussie name?

Flick is short for Felicity, it's not very common.

Update: people who love Survivor for the pure strategy please avert your eyes from this season. For anyone else, it's phenomenally chaotic.

Have always maintained that 9 times out of 10 bad gameplay makes for better tv than good game play.

Safe to say has this season provided more than its full share of it already. Like a modern day Gabon.

We've already had;

-Brawn majority alliance voting out a solid number in Benny for virtually no reason
-Brains majority alliance voting out a solid number in Mitch rather than split the vote within the minority alliance
-Kara essentially voting herself out
-Kara completely botching up a split vote.

And we still have 17 people left!

Whenever people talk about the dumbest move ever in Survivor you always hear the same candidates.

You get the JT & Tyson in H&V sort of moves which I will always defend as high variance plays which didn't happen to pan out

Or you get the Colby/Woo/Erik/Ian/Brandon Hanz sort of moves which I will always defend as players making an emotional decision so that they can leave the game feeling stable within themselves.

What I really struggle to defend is forgetting who you are supposed to vote for in a extremely basic and clearly explained 3-3 split vote. If even Gerald the dairy farmer can easily nail it, it shouldn't be beyond the mental capabilities of a successful estate agent.

Honestly may be the dumbest move I have ever seen across 45+ seasons of the show

There was (different person).

Yeah, in other cases like Tyson's, the player knew who they were supposed to vote for and what the plan was, even if they consciously decided not to follow it. Cara forgetting who she was supposed to vote for ("I think I've cooked this") is pretty inexcusable.

Quick update on my thoughts on the edit now we are down to the merge and the final 13.

While I think Flick has arguably been protected somewhat by the edit, I think realistically her content has tailed off so much since week 1 that I've all but ruled her out as an option.

I can only really see two end results playing out now

1) Hayley beating Baden in a final two
2) Hayley being a 'fallen angel' and Baden winning the game under a pitch of being the steady eddie under the radar second in command player (for me he's getting a similar 'winner' edit to Pia)

The fact that I have totally wrote off the following people from having ANY chance of winning the game is for me, once again reflective of how atrocious they are at editing their seasons;

Dani, Kara, Gerald, Laura, Wai, Chelsea, Emmett & Andrew

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what? Apparently you can pass idols now after being voted out?

Hayley is so far and above all the other players it's nuts. I was very down after the first ep but I'm completely on board, this season rules

Atrocious rule change.

Also calls into question how good the brains plan was to split the vote on Dani in the last tribal as all she had to do was play dumb after the vote to Simon and he could have passed off two idols to her. Can only assume she totally forgot the rule existed.

In regards to Hayley, yet again another episode of the show ramming it down our throats how incredible she is.

Why they are now trying to model their edit on the likes of Redemption island and One World is beyond me

Just had a look at the confessional count running up to the merge and as expected its hilarious

George is unsurprisingly in the lead with 65 confessionals
Hayley slotting in second with 47 confessionals

Andrew and Chelsea have each had 3 confessionals all season....3

Passing of an idol after being voted out is bad BUT not watching for it when you know she has one might be worse if no one picked up on it

Ah Australian Survivor.

-A terrible lets save 6 people in the first tribal council for some reason twist
-Atrocious lop sided, and winner telegraphed editing (well done Andrew on forcing the producers to give you your 4th confessional in 14 episodes)
-Changing the idol pass off rule for no apparent reason

And now whatever the hell this is.

For all the evolution of Survivor down the years, I've always maintained one thing which is that no matter what, everyone has the right to cast a vote.

It's just the fabric of the game. Without it the game is dead.

A 'vote steal' is bad enough, this is a whole new level.

I wonder if the producers had something planned for if Flick correctly played her idol to nullify the only vote.

-Everyone but Baden and the three immune people draw rocks?
-Danni keeps voting?

What a mess

You know it’s gonna be crazy when they leave for tribal council and there’s still 35 minutes left in the episode

Feel bad for Baden. Got completely screwed out of the game by production.

Also feel bad for Chelsea not only being medevac'd but also totally purple Kelly'd out of the season.

I've also totally forgot Gerald, Wai and Laura are even there its been so long since any of them have been given a confessional or any sort of content.

Must admit though it was satisfying to see the person extremely telegraphed as the winner since the final 19 in Hayley totally blow up her game to the point of being unanimously 'voted out' at the final 11.

She reminds me a lot of Spencer Bledsoe or Adam Klein in her gameplay. Playing very hard which can either leave you looking like a genius (Joey blindside) or completely blow up your game (splitting the vote on Dani & exposing George as the double agent)

It's the sort of frantic gameplay that can get you to the end and win unanimously, or get to the end and not get a single vote.

They have such an unbelievable amount of time compared to US Survivor I don't understand why they are incapable of showing the cast.

The average US Survivor seasons will have 1/2 Purple Edits out of 20 person cast.

Taking this season for example we have

Phil, Janelle, Gavin, Benny, Mitch, Georgia, Kez, Chelsea, Baden, Andrew, Cara, Flick, Gerald, Laura and Wai and can make a case for Rachel too

That's 16 purple Kelly edits, 9 of which making the merge.

Some thoughts now we go into the final week and slog towards the telegraphed Hayley victory since the final 19.

-Far too many twists, worst of any Aus season

-Considering most of the cast aren't Survivor fans i've actually been pretty impressed with the gameplay - Emmett, Gerald, Kez and Wai to name a few

-Really enjoyed the outback location. Will be quite a shame switching back to the 10th fiji season in a row when Survivor USA comes back next month

-I'm getting really sick of seeing Hayley change clothes mid confessional with the sound also sloppily patched together from various points across the season. Anything to squeeze in as many winner edit soundbites as possible I guess but its just such amateur hour.

-I cant see the show ever bothering to fix the shambolic editing and excess twists any time soon. As much as the fans hate it, i'm not sure the casuals mind too much.

George has had had 156 confessionals this season
Hayley 125
Flick 53
Cara 57
Wai 34

Did anyone seriously go into the final 5 not realising who was going to make ftc?

Oop. Didn't realise this was a thread. Sandra is on, her daughter seems great and she's beaten Russell's placement. Be interesting to see how far she makes it
