Took me only 8 years but I finally decided to watch season 4 after rewatching the first 3 seasons.

Took me until episode 16 to realize the “remix” isn’t the only thing and that I can watch the original version of season 4 under “trailers & more” on Netflix.

Questions: Is the original version 4 less crappy than the remix? I watch it while Zwifting and usually have pretty low demands for shows while doing that but today I was like “whatever lets find something different to watch”. That rarely happens, certainly not with shows that had 3 absolutely brilliant seasons.
Would it be worth to start over with the original season 4? Or should I just move to season 5? Or is that one equally crappy and I should find a totally different show?

Been a while, but iirc it's much better than 4, but still quite a bit off from it's heyday.

I think the original season 4 is worse than the remix, don't bother with it. Season 5 is better but yeah, still nowhere near 1-3

Finally talked my girlfriend into marathon’ing this with me because she’d never seen it. I worship S1-3 and she thoroughly enjoyed it.

Season 4 though…. The remix was a better version in a lot of ways but they ruined the highlight of it by introducing the woodblock FakeBook right away instead of it being a season ending reveal. That was the best part of the season for me, from what I remember.

We start season 5 tomorrow, which I have yet to see, so I’m equal parts nervous and excited lol

In which ways did you like the remix better? I totally understand when people say the prefer the lineal way of storytelling without the jumps in the timeline. But I don't see anything else that might be better in the remix.

Arrested Development is the prime example for a show where binge watching magnifies the drop-off in quality between seasons. If you watched season 3 in 2005/06 and season 4 in 2013 you might have thought that your taste inTV shows just changed over the last 8 years.

It never felt like it dragged in the remix is the main thing. And the shorter episodes. The constant over-recapping was a major issue though.
