This show is pretty funny. Brought to you by Steve Carrell and his wife, starring Rashida Jones and lots of guests. A cop show spoof, similar to Naked Gun, etc.
Its showing over and over on TBS for the next 24 hours or so.
It is the perfect show for having in the background while you're doing something else. It is constant 5/10 jokes and you can be certain you didn't miss anything really funny while your attention was elsewhere. If someone recommended it to me, I would box their ears.
I pretty much agree with the "constant 5/10 jokes" notion. It is really just gag after gag, some hitting and some missing. I did laugh out loud a few times though - my favorite was when the ink kept drying up on his quill.
They did a On-Demand feature on this where the actors are discussing the show. If there's any tell-tale sign of a bad show or movie its the actor interview as part of an advertisement for a show. "Oh man Angie Tribeca sure is crazy. Here's a list of her quirks."
Can you imagine them doing that for Michael Scott before the US version of The Office premiered? "Michael Scott is the boss but he's clueless! Wacky adventures are bound to ensure". No they would just premiere the show and feel confident in the strength of the content that people would stick around to learn about Michael's idiosyncrasies.
