I remember being disappointed with last season, but don't remember if there was anything that was specifically awful in the writing. I think seeing how bad the writing has been on the last seasons of GoT and The Walking Dead, whatever was wrong with last season of The Americans doesn't seem that bad. I felt the season opener really set things up well for the final season, and I'm excited to see how it concludes.

That's all he has now. And his business is failing. Idk, I kind of like seeing that side of the family out of the show. It just fleshes out the world a bit more.

Really liking this season so far. Kind of interested to see if anything happens with that Russian couple who 'requested political asylum' or if that'll just be the end of that thread.

elizabeth seems destined to be arrested or killed.

her body count is at a season high I think so far for this early in the season...and mostly cold-blooded compared to prior seasons.

stan was suspicious about the general's "suicide"...so maybe it's setup for him to finally catch someone of note.

Stan has GOT to be the one to catch Liz and/or Philip. The show can't end any other way.

It would be like anyone other than Hank being the one to catch Walt in BB.

Either Stan kills one of the couple of vice versa. Irony would be Phillip taking a bullet for Liz and then she somehow lives her days out in witness protection or under her own assumed identity after turning on Mother Russia.

Waiting for Paige’s first kill. No sign of pastor Tim so maybe she gets to whack Henry to prevent him from blowing their cover.

I liked how Sepinwall put it, that the hero of the episode beat up his daughter and manipulatively slept with his surrogate daughter. Only on The Americans!

I really liked that scene with Paige

1. Your Mom is not the only badass in the family
2. Men are a whole different category of strength. Your not ready (but it should be enough to kill That wimp Pastor Tim)

Not the first time they showed him screwing with a disgusted look on his face. Give him an Emmy.

So this week, the engineer in Chicago rolls over, the FBI gets him to set up a meeting with his illegal, and (something something) they find out his public persona. They hand waved away a ton of stuff there, didn’t they? Like, when Phil goes to meet an asset, he doesn’t go as “Phil Jennings, travel agent” he goes as Clark or the skeezy dude working kimmy etc. how did they find the Chicago illegal’s identity without blowing the operation???
