it's just people vote for people they like or people that are like them.

it's why Aaron Kelly is around, it's why Tim is around over Alex. Wavy/flippy haircut >>>> mullet to 14 year old girls
Yeah, this obv.

Once again, a huge LOL AMERICA. Well done!

with how emotional some of these people get for each other, you would have to assume some of them are hooking up with each other.

Random observation lol

Also if you go to youtube after the performances, I would imagine the people that get the most votes are also the most viewed performances which I think is Bowersox, Mike and Sibh.

I don't think so, they are living together and going through the most stressful moments of their lives together.

Similar to Band of Brothers and the bond that develops.

On a similar note, it looks like Crystal could give a **** if someone goes home, as long as it's not her.

America is ******ed. What a **** fest.

Is everyone on the show usually this emotional? I got the feeling that most of the contestants were completely shocked by the results. Crystal was obviously not happy. She either felt terrible or was pissed, I can't tell.

the consensus is that it was the wildest results show ever.

the thing about idol is that you can always retroactively come up with a somewhat plausible explanation for any elimination based on song choice, performance order, 'connection' with the audience, etc.

even if crystal got voted off this week it would have been very easy to type 'hardly newsbreaking for idol. america has always liked good-looking contestants, which she clearly isn't. she also doesn't seem to have a connection with the voting audience; soccer moms are much more likely to vote for a goodlooking young dude than an acoustic hippie. not to mention her poor attitude - she seems moody and sullen onstage and projects an air of superiority which clearly turned voters off.'

crystal was seen mouthing 'that's ****ed up' to katelyn when she got eliminated. i think she was pretty ill too though. or maybe she's just a moody bitch.

I don't ever block anyone, but I finally blocked TheHip. Don't know how I'll live without his expert predictions and superior knowledge at everything, but surprisingly the thread is such an easier read now!

Wow. Comparing American Idol to WWII. Could be the most ridiculous thing I've read in a long time. Well done.

Um dude, why is it so ridiculous?

You don't think the moments and grief for the fallen shared riding the tanks back from Bastogne with the few who survived is similar to Idol contestants piling in an SUV after ONE OF THEIR BRETHREN got eliminated? THEY BASICALLY DIED ON STAGE

You sir are ridiculous

Spoiler:
butnahhhhhhhh TheHip is criminally stupid

Oh cmon. It's not like he's saying it's as dangerour or anything in the serious nature. He's just saying that they go through thick and thin together and they feel a natural camaraderie.

But I like what it appears to be Crystal's attitude of eff em. I'm here for me and I'm here to win.

I'm curious is there anyone even close to being as comfortable on stage as Crystal and Siobahn? Maybe Lee?

is ******ed. Lilly is nothing like Crystal. Lilly's doing cutesy indie-pop/folk type music and Crystal's doing Janis/Etheridge/Chapman style bluesy dyke-rock. The only thing they have in common is that neither is a standard pop diva.

Huh? Their only bond is that they are in a singing competition together. Any comparison is ridiculous

So, are you saying that you don't think Crystal and Lilly have to split some votes?

I agree with this. I don't think her "Too cool for school" attitude will get enough votes to win. I can see her getting as far as 3rd.

The other thing about her is what someone else pointed out, she's too predictable. Which is fine at this point, but could start getting old as the competition goes on.

I think the winner will either be Siohban or Big Mike.

She is predictable because she sings songs she likes, and for the record NOT songs we have heard a million times on Idol, but the rest of the boring contestants are original by singing the same sappy love songs we hear on every season of Idol?

I would be willing to make a wager on Crystal vs Mike if you are interested.

I'm not saying Crystal is bad at all. I think she's predictably excellent every week. I just think her attitude isn't going to be endearing enough for Idol viewers when it gets to the home stretch. Plus her look isn't exactly mainstream either. I think Katie has made it this far by just looking like the all american girl next door. Crystal looks like a hobo they cleaned up for the show.

I'll pass on a wager for now. I'm 0-2 on Idol bets and would've bet that Paige went home this week and probably laid odds on it.

I'm really not wanting to aegue about this. We can agree to disagree. But when you spend morning, afternoon, and night with the same people for months (or however long they're doing it) it creates a strong bond (or a strong hatred). This happened with me and my group in basic training. I don't see a difference in those two. I would think it would be 25x that for groups who are in wartime situations. But the same type thing.

If this offends you because you've seen the likes of war then I'm sorry. That's not my intent.

Anyone willing to do a Siobhan (1.5) vs. Crystal (1) last longer?
Basically 30$ to me if Siobhan LL and 20$ for you if Crystal LL.
Betting exchanges have Crystal much higher, more like 2:1.
PM me if interested.

I cannot wait for the Spielberg/Hanks epic 10-part series about American Idol.

I'm sure they split some, but you could say that about a ton of contestants. I honestly think if anyone's getting potential Lilly votes it's probably Siobhan, as both have a quirky indie kind of vibe, but Siobhan's hotter and has a better voice.

This. There are so many 15 year old girls out there from Bubblescum Township who randomly text whoever the flavor of the week is in their sophomore class that no one sane could easily predict who goes and who stays.

Yeti, I didn't mean to be so nonchalant about it. I agree that it was unexpected. My post was more about trying to figure out why it happened, and I gave it my best shot.

I think the consensus was everyone got Todrick right, but that's it.

I think Katelyn going home isn't that big of a shocker since she's been average, but Lilly going home is unfair.

When it was Andrew/Alex standing there, I was like, um, ok, I guess Andrew is gone.

One other thing I wanted to add, in past seasons of Idol, once you get in the habit of being bottom 3, or on the stage when the results are given, you usually are short on time. I think Fantasia is the only one that was in the bottom 3 or close to exiting that won it. This is bad new for Andrew, since he's been up there a few times in a row. It shows that he doesn't have the fan base. I really believe even if he does better, that people have already picked their horses and it's just a matter of time before he gets voted off.
