Kris Allen was a top tier singer from start to finish. no arguing in that. You may dislike his voice, like I do with David A, but that doesn't mean it's bad

Kris isn't a great singer though. He was one of the best overall talents last year and won on things having little to do with raw vocals. You don't need to be a great singer. Just need to be good enough. I think Casey might be good enough. If he shows some creativity, he can win. He will make it pretty deep on his looks/guitar alone.

Michael Johns is a fair comparison except Casey is very good on guitar and he isn't competing against the type of talent in other years. Michael Johns finishes top 2 this year lol. Also Johns is a better singer than Casey... and a better singer than Kris Allen. He just didn't have *it*. *It* has nothing to do with looks or sex appeal.

I'm not sure about that, but I don't think he would. I don't think it's fair to compare 3-4 of the guys to Johns just yet. I think by the end of the year, at least 3 girls and probably 2 guys will have better AI resumes than Johns

I think Michael Alex and Andrew would outlast MJ, and probably 3 girls as well. Johns was pretty solid rock singer, but he wasn't great. Johns is way better than Casey as a singer.

I'll get off the casey sucks drum for now, but if you guys think he is so great, I'll take a LL bet with Casey vs. Garcia

I LOVED Alex Lambert tonight. Loved his voice last week too, but it was just awkward as F, and I felt HORRIBLE for him! I was so proud of him this week, as cheesy and ridiculous as that sounds!

He was my favorite performance, but I'm not sure if I'm just comparing to last week and giving more credit than is due.

I have a strange liking for Tim Urban, but I must be living out my old teeny bopper years or something. I really didn't think his performance was that great, but he has some weird appeal. Sigh, I sound like I'm 14.

I think John Park and Todrick are gonzo.

It's really weird that Crystal went into a diabetic coma, I mean a type 1 diabetic *knows* they are diabetic, the minute she realized her blood sugar was below normal she would do something about it. I find it really strange as someone who knows a few type 1 diabetics since they were kids.

Alex Lambert is the only guy I like, I wish I could figure out the right prices to make last longer bets but it seems unpossible. I guess I'll take him at 2:1 vs any guy who isn't Casey, Lee, or Andrew? To be clear you lay me 2:1 and pick who you want.

The problem with Casey is that he only has *it* when he's not singing. Whoever called him 'detached' had it spot on. When he's singing, he looks like a robot pretending he is cool.

David Archuleta's 'Heaven' was the best performance of that song on AI to date (and there's been lots)

That said, I hated how loud he took breaths between notes, it's REALLY annoying

I think Elliot has got to be in the running. I havent seen season 4, so I can't comment on Bo Bice, but I've heard he's great.

But for me, Elloit, Reuben, Clay, Daughtry are pretty much the nuts for me. I really liked David Cook, but I think the other guys are just pure singers.

Best male vocalist has got to be Reuben or Elliot.

I posted this in the other AI thread (in so many words), but I really like Lee's chances of going far, and if Alex gains confidence and makes it to the top 12 (where the stylist comes into play), he can go far because he has a pretty great voice.

I didn't like Big Mike as much as others, I thought it was a weaker version of the original.

I doubt you're going to see Andrew again without the guitar, it exposed the flaws in his voice.

I can't argue, Clay at his best was as good or better than anyone else at their best. David A, as much as I hate him, had some great vocal performances.

How much of the praise for "Straight Up" is because of Andrew's singing/playing and how much is just that it's an awesome, catchy song? I feel like everyone (judges, fans) gives him credit for an amazing performance when most of what made it seem great was that they hadn't heard the song in a long time and it brought back good memories.

Archuleta's definitely up there, his voice was so pure. Clay's voice was just so powerful and had great range. Taking all of that into consideration, I don't think any guy matches him.

I still think it's amazing that the winner of Season 1 would have won every season since, with (maybe) only Carrie giving her any real competition. Kelly's combination of talent and extreme likeability has never really been approached since.
