I'm legitimately shocked that Big Mike gave the best performance of the entire season.

um. level? He's easily a top 3 talent in the competition. IMO him and crystal bowersox are the two best all around in the competition. The way these judges are critiquing is starting to get annoying though. Last week Andrew arguably had one of the best performances of the night yet they were still all disappointed. Tonight he wasn't great but he wasn't bad either. All these other singers are getting the no but yes kinda treatment because they're delivering better than what is expected of themselves, but it's still not good.

Most of the positive critiques are singers singing good relative to their own talent level. Andrew's bad is better than most of their good, it's really that simple. Yes, straight up was incredible but you expect him to hit that level everytime? Just cause he doesn't the judges have something bad to say abt the performance. Watch his sugar performance from last week he sang the song perfect vocally AND the arrangement was dope I dunno what they were on...something tells me if he made top 24 w/o ever doing straight up they'd be much muchhh more lenient on him imo.

And lol wut casey james was weak as **** tonight. That performance was wack sorry, and fwiw I rly ike that gavin degraw song. They said for someone else tonight "it's not as good as the original"..jermaine or todrick maybe. Well umm...casey's was light years behind the original. Big Mike was good tonight prolly the best. Aaron = middle of the road? Yet some others you listed as just flat out sucking. Are you stuck in 1998? Cause aaron looks like he should have been a singer trying to make it over 10 years ago. Dude is just outdated, has no appeal whatsoever...decent voice I guesssss....but he's on some late 90's nsync type **** when it's 2010.

No, Andrew was bad both weeks by any standard. "Straight Up" has nothing to do with it. I thought that was a cool performance but it wasn't THAT good. I didn't like anybody outside of my top 3 tonight. It was a lot better than last week though... which is pretty sad.

posting blind:

see guys, I told you there was no need to panic, some guys just needed a week to get their feet wet. Pretty much everyone improved except Aaron, and that's just because the song choice was that bad.

Great:
Michael
Alex

Good:
Andrew
Lee
Tim

Average:
Jermaine
Aaron
Casey

Buhbye:
John
Todrick

a few random musings:

1. Lee is not the best male vocalist left, and it's only really the second time I've thought Simon was on crack. The first time was when he pimped Megan Joy like that for 3 weeks last year. Lee is better than Megan, but he's at best the 4th best singer on the men's side. That's if Jermaine keeps sucking. My personal theory is Simon is going to pimp Mr. Quizno's until he has made the AI summer tour, and then he will give the exact same performance, and Simon will tell him he's awful, just like he did with Megan Joy last year.

2. Michael was the best of the night, and best male vocal of the year (2 weeks, big deal)

3. I think Andrew is playing it safe, because he knows he just can't go home with all this trash (Todrick) still around. Once we get down to top 10, I feel he is going to wow us.

4. Casey can't sing that well. He's pretty, but he has the same problem Tim Tebow's g/f had. Once it gets down to the final say, 7, and here is the line up

Didi
Bowersox
Simoan
Garcia
Alex
Aaron
Casey

you are going to see how weak his vocals really are. he wasn't even that good last week, he just didn't mess up and was having fun. He really has no shot of winning this.

However, I think Alex made some real headway tonight. I still think it's the girls' year to lose though.

Alex is still a bit nervous. I think he has the best voice of the guys. I doubt he will be able to gain enough confidence to make a deep run but he improved greatly from last week. Why did Simon pimp Tim? I don't get it

lol the judges even admitted tonight that the problem is that he gave them straight up and they're judging him on that, so I don't know what you're talking about. His performance tonight was pitchy on some spots, and I guess can be seen as bad, but his performance last week was vocally perfect no way it was "bad". Even if you didn't like the arrangement you have to admit for what he did with it he sang it perfectly and made no mistakes. If his performance last week was bad everyone else's was horrendous. Are you seriously trying to tell me that some of the people they gave better reviews to in week one had a better performance than him? If so lol and you're definitely in the minority with that one.

the problem is not his song choice or how he arranges the songs

his problem is he is an average singer that's outclassed by everyone left

The point is, Andrew is the best vocalist left on the men's side, and it's not close, regardless of what Simon says about Mr. Quizno's voice

Can't wait to hear from the guy in the thread that thinks he is a better singer than Big Mike.

The biggest surprise for me was the first three judges reactions to Tim Urban. When he was getting ready to perform I was ready to get embarrassed for him and I thought he did real well. Could have been just the shock from the turnaround from last week.

I also agree with some that Casey isn't a contender for winning the competition. I thought that before this week, despite thinking he did the best last week, and tonight just solidified that for me.

Casey is just so detached, it's depressing.

Go watch his audition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHP3Uy7-uPQ

Simon was exactly right (per usual).

i'm not going to get into a troll war with you, since everyone knows you don't know wtf you are talking about.

but yes, Aaron was really good last week, and awful this week

Out of the 10 guys left, if Andrew isn't the best male singer, who out of the other 9 would you rank ahead of him?

I missed Aaron's song because of LOST, but I saw a bad version on youtube and it sounded fine. Not a good song choice, but nothing wrong with it vocally. He's a very very good technical singer, which is why I'm a big fan.

He looked a million times more comfortable on stage this week, too.
