Haha, I mentioned that towards the beginning of the thread. I think Tamyra is one of the best vocalists the show has ever seen.

Seriously, there's no over reaction here. Everything about this week was terrible.

The judges pretty much called AI viewers a**holes after this decision.

Kelly Clarkson was def. better than Tamyra.

Don't get the talent has slipped argument, everyone on that season except Kelly and Tamyra was pretty awful and probably wouldn't get through hollywood week now.

in year 1, we had some good ppl, but not tons, because it was new.


Then season 2 had a very solid top 10, same with season 3.


Now it's season 9, and 8 seasons worth of top 24's cannot compete anymore.


Sure people are turning 16 every year, but they are 16 and raw and not polished like Cook or Daughtry, or even someone like Blake Lewis.


So yes, there is less talent to pick from every year.

I think s1 gets a pass since it wasn't huge yet.


What I think everyone is saying is the talent at the TOP isn't there this year.

s1 - kelly tamara
s2 - reuben, clay, kimberley locke
s3 - fantasia, Diana, Hudson, La toya
s4 - i personally haven't seen it, but Carrie seems like an obv choice
s5 - elliot, daughtry
s6 - shrek

6 guys that are at varying degrees of suck, and 3 girls that can sing well. Jordin wins by default

s7- David A, David C, and even ppl like Michael and Brooke were solid

s8- Adam, Allison, Kris

s9 - ??


Right now, there are no guys that are on the level of David A(i h8 u) or David Cook, or Clay, or Reuben, or Adam.


For the girls, a few could be, just haven't done it yet.

She was, at best, as good as Tamyra. Tamyra had crazy range.

While I do somewhat agree, if you look back at a lot of the winners, their real talent (i.e. could be a winner) didn't emerge until many weeks into the competition. There are some exceptions (Reuben and Melinda come to mind), but people like Kelly & David Cook didn't really start to separate themselves from the pack until there were 6-8 left.

I haven't seen them all, but season 4 was more entertaining to me than the other ones I've seen. Too bad you missed it.

Seriously if this is the best 24 they can find I have no clue WTF to say. A lot of the people that got cut have to be thinking WTF.

They always let a few bad ones slip through for entertainment value. They may have gone a bit overboard this year though.

This is an absolutely fantastic post and covers the voting demographics well, kudos. Ashley Rodriguez was far from being the 11th or 12th best singer, and should have picked up bonus votes for attractiveness, but didn't because a boatload of people who vote are 13 year old girls.

Taylor Hicks won, Katherine McPhee finished 2nd. I can't come up with anything, real or imaginary, that could possibly be a better exhibition of how incompetent America is. Good God.

Almost every winner has been from the South, that can never be discounted when thinking about who will go far.

lolwut? kat mcphee wasn't leaps and bounds beyond taylor in singing ability at all so how can you justify that statement? Taylor had way more personality and fanbase appeal than Kat who always came off as mildly stuckup and bitchy.

A bunch better example is daughtry going out 4th that year.

david cook was solid from week 1, even auditions. his only weak performance was Innocent

Some people are saying the top 20 will get better, but I still can't see how they get a top 10 that can compete with last years. I mean the 11th guy voted off last year could sing.

What I saw this week was many people chosing songs to hide the poor range they had, and some others who wished they had. Most of these folks are not going to get much better.

PS. Whoever advised Katie Stevens (I think it was her) to sing Feeling Good, a song that Adam Lambert just owned last year, should be smacked. I had to youtube Lambert's version just to get hers out of my head. then I felt sad that I I know I'm not going to hear anything like Mad World this year.

Siohban, Boxersox and Garcia might have the vocals, but they are still maybes.

Not sure if this has been mentioned in this thread yet but the whole Kara being attracted to Kasey(or w.e his name his) thing is really really annoying and unfunny. Not sure who is pushing it(the producers or Kara) but it is really stupid.

I agree and it seems stupid given the Paula Abdul controversy in the past.

I think it's funny because it started out so unconsciously with Kara


when they told him he was top 24 and she picked up her leg when she hugged him like it was 1885.


Kara does want to bang him, and they are mocking her for it.
