Todrick - pretty much what I expected. great performer, good redition of a good song, but the vocals are garbage


Aaron - he was pretty good, better than I expected this week (can the judges suck his penis any more?)



Jermaine - before the song starts, terrible song to pick. Todrick murdered the arrangement, Jermaine murdered the vocals. Just awful. The judges. Ellen, I like you, Dawg, I like you, Kara, I like you, Simon, you suck.



Tim - during the chorus, thank god for back up singers. this kid has a decent voice in the normal registers, but his falsetto is garbage. probably safe this week.



Ellen, she is starting to sound like Paula, just run on sentences whenever she's afraid of giving bad news.



Joe - not bad, vocals were shaky in spots, but better than everyone but Aaron at this point

"A little bit limp, and forgettable. Like our host." awesome


Tyler - like the song choice, but was boring from start to finish. he's got no chance to win, 0%


Lee - Pretty good overall. His voice is good, but not great, and was off in spots, but better than the guys before him. Re: Simon, when he watches this back, he is going to realize Lee wasn't that good.



John - he's funny. Vocally, he's been better than everyone, but this song was boring as hell.



After 8 guys, only 3 have been unawful, and only 1, Aaron has a chance of winning.



Michael - finally a performance i care about. not perfect, but decent.



Alex - in before simon quotes the lyrics back to him. awful. If Ellen liked guys, the banana conversation would have been much funnier.




Casey - not bad, not great. easily into the top 12


Andrew - not an awesome performance, but compared to the rest, he was Dave Matthews. Simon, he doesn't need to be awesome right now. He just needs to get through the first 3 shows.



Only a few guys have a shot at winning. Bet on girls for the win this year.

I was loling at you before tonight on this, but given he's 16, and it's first performance, he was great.


If he went 10th or 11th tonight, he would be getting more love.

Basically, there are only a few guys that can win. Garcia, Casey, Aaron, Munoz, and Michael. If Lee gets better, maybe him, but I don't see it.

most years, the first live show is shaky at best. next week will be much better from the contenders, and the awful ones will continue being awful.

Andrew Garcia sucks. Can't believe all the hype he got. He has absolutely zero chance at winning with that look, and if he continues to sing Fallout Boy songs as if the lyrics have some deep meaning.

Casey was the only one who put on an adequate idol performance tonight. Todrick wasn't great but at least showed he has some balls, everyone else was forgettable and/or terrible. Simon's pimping of Lee Dewyze was the most ridiculous **** ever, I'm just going to assume he's like trying to screw Idol on the way out or something.

The more Im watching the recaps, I think if John picks some better songs, he might be able to make a run. Funny guy and good voice.

Ya agree with most of this. Andrew was really dull tonight I don't understand the love. Casey was 100x better than everybody else. Has to be the frontrunner. I like what Todrick tried to do. Judges then bash him for changing the song too much. But Andrew comes on (and some others) and judges say they didn't make it original enough. Lol consistency?

John isn't going anywhere. I am surprised Simon didn't pull out the "cruise ship" card on him. It was dull and poorly sung. But his intro was the highlight of the year.

lol at saying Garcia sucks. He was lackluster tonight, but it wasn't like his vocals were the issue. The way he did that song was just sorta boring. He's still easily the favorite among the guys, the only guy I would consider putting money on. Simon is a damn good guide for how the show is going to go. Simon saying he was looking forward to Garcia's performance is a pretty good indication Garcia was one of (if not the) best in Hollywood. You might not like his music, but he's a damn good singer/performer.

Meh I think Casey > Aaron > Garcia tonight. I really don't think any of the other guys have a chance at making a run in the long term.

he's got a better voice than most of the guys, just a matter of making himself a viable contestant. ie, don't pick God Bless the Child

Aaron can really lock down the young girl vote. Unless he ****s up on consecutive weeks and assuming he can have an "Idol moment" soon he will go top 5 or higher and could win. He's not as talented as Archuleta but he seems less like a robot..

And whoever said worst top 12 show ever about last night (lol) could very well be right about tonight. Half of them were incredibly bad and a few others who didn't totally suck weren't very good either. Last night was wayyyy better. I hope some people step it up though. Casey was the only one even semi-memorable.

there were some pretty bad shows in the past for top 12, but tonight's guys were anywhere from above average to god awful. not a good show.


every year, the first 3 weeks are the roughest, getting rid of the dead weight, once top 12 rolls around, nerves are gone, and people start coming into their own.

Right. Still no clear frontrunner this year which there usually is about this time. There's a group of frontrunners but not 1 or 2 people in the clear lead. All other seasons I've seen (previious 3) had them. Any of the other seasons been this even after the first live show?

I can't think of any. In past seasons, Daughty/Hicks were both great first night, David A was a clear front runner, last year Adam and a few girls they pimped were pretty solid in week 1.


Should be some good drama, with everyone being so close.

I think on the girls side, they are deeper, and if someone has a few great performances, they can be that frontrunner, ldo


But I feel there are 6 or 7 girls that could have great performances next week, the guys, maybe 2, or 3.

it was a joke referring to her being an apprentice glass blower , and her singing. haven't you ever heard someone say "you can really blow!" talking about singing. ryan just thought it was funny to say bcuz she is also a glass blower. it wasn't meant to be dirty.
