Casey has a much narrower range & nowhere near the power of Vedder's voice.

Well, Mike went home. I do think he's going to have a career after this though. He's way too charismatic and friendly. Just needs to drop some pounds, but I could see him being popular. Aside from Crystal, I can't see either Lee or Casey being famous. Both have the personality of a 2x4. Although maybe Lee has a backup career impersonating Elijah Wood.

well, it vary on how good/bad your band is.

this is what i tell bar owners when booking the first time

fri or sat - 500
fri and sat- 450 a night

thursday 400

during the week mon-wed we have played for 350

on bigger occasions you can get 600-700. some bands that are more established around here can pull 1000 a night, but those bands are rare.

Based on those rates, I take it you're a cover band?

oh yeah, all covers. I don't know what bands that play originals get. I'm happy with the band. We aren't looking to go national or get signed, just play 5-6 times a month and make a little extra cash on the side. It's the most fun I've ever had.

Bands that play originals usually get a percentage of the door, which is usually nowhere near $500/night unless you have some type of following. On the flip side, you're usually playing 30-60 minutes instead of multiple sets.

Haha, I was thinking the exact same thing watching on Tuesday...he should definitely sing "Black".

Haven't kept up with the threads and shows for S9 since Siobhan went home (I watch, but like on Sundays)

But that is one of my favorite moments too. I got wet eyes and was so sad when they announced she died

In general the going home scenes are a bit ridiculous, but good TV.

I was thinking more in the way that they look. Something about their mouth. I know here comes "boy, you got a pretty mouth" in a redneckvoice.

But dammt, I'm right and I'm not ashamed!

I've been playing for a few years in bands now, and always in cover bands, so I don't know about the original bands.

With us, we play four 45 minutes sets in a night, start at 930 get done at 130ish. But since we have been around 7 years, we don't have to do the % of the door or 200/night crap anymore. We just say no thanks we will play down the street.

thats pretty good. I know you aren't looking for a contract or w/e, but networking your band on myspace/facebook/itunes would be almost no work to maintain and could make you guys some extra cash.

we play all covers so i doubt we could sell covers of our songs on ITunes.

here is a sample of our band for those that are interested. someone used a camera phone to record a few songs without our knowledge, so i put a few on youtube so I would have them.

I'm from Toledo and Crystal was all over the TV today. I heard a few of her own songs and they were rather good.

I think the biggest question here is what Mikes demographic is going to do.

I think we can safely rule out them voting for Crystal, she has a distinct appeal and if you weren't voting for her already you wont start now if you're a Mike fan.

I'm not sure what block voting is like in the US for idol, but is it safe to assume that a lot of Mikes voters would have been from the black audience? And if so are they really going to find appeal in either Casey or Lee?

I don't see it being improbable that a lot of Mikes votes are now just lost to all the remaining contestants and the breakdown they had for last results will continue through. The downside to this though is that if Crystal gets through to the final 2 she won't end up winning as either Lee or Caseys fanbase will shift to the other.

why do you assume a black voter base would choose Lee or Casey over Crystal?

I see the exact opposite as a possibility. Crystal sings some gospel and has dreads for christ's sake.

How is Lee or Casey more relatable than her?

Why can you rule out Crystal?

You have it backwards for sure. Some of Mike's voters were probably from his story (new dad, etc) and personality. There's been a much more compelling storyline on Crystal than Lee or Casey whom we know next to nothing about. I had a good grasp on Mike's personality and narrative... and I do with Crystal too.
