Well today is the day the wonderful show American Idol returns. Simons last season, where do we begin?

I'm thinking of turning it off after the very first girl. She was the kind where she knew she was bad and just wanted to be on type.

These early episodes are boring, always. I mean there are moments of entertainment but I'd rather just skip ahead instead of dragging on like this for a month or two.

That one chick was superhot. Even Kara and Victoria Beckham wanted her.

Let's fast forward this season and watch X Factor already... it's gonna PWN, perhaps the best reality talent competition on TV? I'd say yes actually, way way better than Idol imo.

What's X Factor about? Okay, seems to have something to do with singing competition. What's the difference?

American Idol is Simon Fuller's show. X Factor is Simon Cowell's own show, that he also judges on. Everything about it is just way better imo. They also do groups and older people on the same show, and each judge has their own category (young females, young males, groups, older) that they mentor along the way.

I think in the UK it went something like this: Pop Idol (Simon Fuller) is successful, Cowell judges on it >>> Cowell leaves and starts X Factor >>> Pop Idol goes down the drain and X Factor is a megahit

UK people feel free to correct me, I'm not entirely sure.

Leona Lewis is a winner of X Factor and the most successful... there's also another girl from it who I think will be very successful, Diana Vickers, she didn't win but is amazing and is releasing a CD this year.

I briefly looked over some Utube clips of X Factor and it seems like the same thing.

That's the way it was a few years ago but now they do those profiles on people who don't make it to I guess, throw us off. There was a girl on last night who was trying to be Mariah Carey or something and they all agreed she didn't need to be on there.

Victoria looked caked with makeup first episode but second looked hot.

Also Ryan made that comment to the guy that that joked he had a date with Kara. maybe we should have a little chat. Is she into guys?

Douchebag guy was good.

Makeup was terrible all around. Those who didn't have good skin (Kara and Posh) looked shiny and awful. Those who have ok skin (the guys) looked shiny. The room must have been hot to shoot in, but come on people a little powder ffs.

The guy who sang House of the Rising Son right? I thought he definitely should've made it through, kind of wack that he didn't. This never would have happened when Paula was judging.

Yeah, that's him. His take on Rising Son was good, in a Bright Eyes/Decemberists kind of way. He should have made it through but I'm sure some snotty producer got upset because he was complaining about the wait. That's pretty much a doomswitch right there... if you don't make a good impression with the producers who are processing you, they will put a bug in the judges' ear and you are dooomed before you sing note one.

man, need to DVR this I guess. I basically got into this show last year. Hopefully they have more singing and less bull**** this year.

I saw the promos for this seasons and saw someone singing Stevie Wonder. Was that on Tuesday's episode or is it coming up?

I dunno, I thought he did ok with that song. But to me it was like "ok, he can do that but can't sing anything else." What I'm trying to say was he was successful at being able to do a song where you're basically talking. Like what else could he sing. I thought he looked interesting. Like maybe he was a good looking guy trying to look like Clark kent or somehting.

Tbh, I also thought he was just an act. Personally I think there are many plants in that show and he was just one of them to get people like us to have these exact conversations.
