the difference is Kris is actually a really really good singer, where Lee would be more suited for a nickelback cover band that plays for 300 a night at your local bar.

Just look on the finale, watch the song Kris sings, and then watch any Lee performance, it's pretty discernible

Bowersox was better but she never had a chance to win this. For her to have a chance votes for people under the age of 20 should count as half.
Im much more surprised at "i just watched my vcr tape of it" than at the results of the show.

Bowersox was awesome. Every time. Lee was so so. He didn't stand out at all. I didn't even remember his name from week to week and didn't realize he was in the running to win this thing until the final 3. Those young women/girls with the time, passion, and ability to text hundreds of times an hour definitely skew the results.

Seems like Idol's turned into a joke since they've allowed text voting. On the other hand it is usually the younger ladies who actually purchase albums/singles (I haven't paid for music in years, 38 male) so maybe the results are correct as far as marketability is concerned.

That is baffling. Even in our pop landscape I can't see Lee doing better than Crystal. Obv he will sell more albums on his first release due to being the winner but there's like no chance he has a better career. Same situation as last year except I think Adam has outsold Kris on his debut album.

just like last year. best contestant finishes 2nd to someone who looks very mediocre by comparison. i like Lee, always have, but Crystal was straight up robbed.

but i'm curious, how much more value is there to winning the (popularity) contest compared with being the runner-up even if you're obviously more talented than the winner?

you guys have it backwards. there's nothing special to bowersox. lee's got a voice you'd actually listen to on the radio..def on par with cook, but a couple notches below daughtry.

Was just bored looking at facebook and noticed something interesting.

Saw two dudes with "updates" complaining about the results and both had numerous comments from women acting generally confused why the person thought Crystal was better.

Then saw a couple of girls with updates happy that Lee won.

The women I'm talking about aren't teeny boppers either, average age prob 30.

I'm wondering if most people prefer male vocalists in general or maybe just women without even realizing they have a preference to gender (since women probably vote more).

I don't think this will be the top 6, but I think these are the only people that can contend.

Michael is a great singer, he's just not as good as Reuben, and not as good as 3-4 of the girls.

Lily is great, but I think she will suffer from having Crystal in the competition, and basically, I think Crystal is more talented than Lily.

I almost put Lily on the list, but I'm sticking to my guns

Casey might make the top 4 or 5, but once he gets into performing two songs a night vs. this potential lineup

he is going to get shown up hardcore. he will be laughable bad compared to the rest of them.

I still think Garcia is holding back until the top 10 or 11 personally.

You can make a case for Aaron, but these young guys usually flame out top 8, and really, no guy is THAT good that they should be on the list.

You can argue Katie should be on the list, but she's only 17, and she's not as polished as Crystal, and uglier than Didi and Crystal, and she's just awkward on the stage.
