I agree but it's not even subtle how much the producers want him to win. LOL he gets a whole backup choir!

Yeah, lol. They went all out to shine the spotlight on him. At least he stepped it up. It could have easily failed. Crystal MUST have a "moment" like that next week for her to win. I still think she can.

Lee has no shot at winning

I will say, he's been the best of a bad bunch the last 5 weeks.

Anybody who doesn't think Lee will have a solid career after this has to be ******ed. On that note, I'm almost positive that he will win.

what we've learned this season is to steal a new arrangement for a classic song (shinedown this year, muse last year) and "make it your own". Gah.

lee will win and i've always liked him, but i actually liked his first performance better than his 2nd one tonight (thought his 2nd was really good, but meh anyone else who's watched the west wing probably will agree w/ me that it's hard to top the jeff buckley version). and i actually really loved crystal's 2nd performance. i'm torn because i wanna root for lee but objectively i think crystal's the best.

This is the stage of the competition that always tilts me because the judges become very political and uber biased.

I wish Casey good luck because I thought both of his songs were very well done.

Crystal had a 'moment' yesterday but her first song fell flat.

Lee was just alright for me, it's hard to give him full props for 'Hallelujah' because KD Lang just owned that song in the 2010 Olympics.

Yep she does the best version ever of that song.

They've always been biased with their judging, but I felt last night took it to another level. They praised Crystal for always sticking to her roots, while berating Casey for picking an unpopular song that he said matches his style perfectly even though he sang it pretty well. And the judges song choices were horrendous. I thought Simon's choice, and having Lee close the show, was set up perfectly for him to move on, but poor Casey got the shaft w/ his song. Like Simon said, there was no climax to it and there is really no way to make that song memorable. I also didn't really understand giving Crystal that Beatles song. It didn't really feel right at all. They should've given her a song that shows her at her best with her guitar.

Personally speaking I think that the producers of the show realize that Lee will probably be the most successful after the show. I know a lot of you disagree with that, but his style of singing is very similar to a lot of the stuff they play on the radio today. I also don't see Crystal as being very marketable as talented as she is. Her whole "look" is very off putting to me and I don't see how her musical style will be popular. Casey keeps ignoring the judges request to pick more popular songs and keeps choosing unknown songs that he likes instead. The judges clearly don't want a repeat of Taylor Hicks, who basically went rogue after the show and wanted to record his own style of music as opposed to making a more poppy album.

That being said, I'm really pushing for Lee. He's been killing it week in, week out.

Lee seems like about as big a lock as there has been to win with three people left. I just have a hard time envisioning him not winning. He was probably the best last night too, although I thought Crystal's second performance was better than Hallelujah, which I've just seen too many times on Idol to really be impacted by it anymore.

it is just tilting because he's so bad compared to some past contestants.

Like if he was in season 5 or 7, he probably would have been voted off like Lilly did this year. Yeah he's solid, but when he sings right after Daughtry or David Cook, you are like, wait, this guy isn't very good.

But thats how it goes. In s5 and s7, Lee barely makes the top 12, in season 6 and season 9 he is probably the last guy standing.

You've been wrong about 9 billion times in this thread for someone who thinks he's an expert.

Also I didn't really like Lee's Hallelujah. Again, one of those songs that's hard to do, but I really didn't like how over the top and gospel-y he made it, doesn't fit the truth of the song at all imo

Listen to the Buckley version:

Then Lee's version:

I'd say for their second performance it was the same. Although the difference between 2 and 1 was closer.

This was my problem with his rendition too. He made it into like a rousing movie climax or something when the real song should be sparse and depressing.

firstly, how do they have a 1hr show and then are massively strapped for time at the most important part of the show.

secondly, god i hate crystal.

edit - meh i guess they didn't run short, the crystal announcement just seemed so hurried, and then she really pissed me off.
