how are Lilly and Crystal not the same in this competition?

They are both

white
weird for normal Idol contestants
play the guitar
since folk songs
mid's 20's

when you take Crystal, what contestant is more like her?

are they the same people, no, but when I want to vote for a acoustic hippie chick, that sings 70's folk rock, lilly and crystal are my choices. It's all about demographics, and sooner or later, once we get to a low enough number of contestants, Lilly is not going to have the voting base because of Crystal. Just so happens it was this week.

Re: the bond between the singers.

Obviously they aren't under mortar fire and gunfire in the cold in foxholes.

The comparison I'm trying to swing here:

Most stressful time of their lives
They are going through something that 99.9% of people will never experience
The fact you can be gone at anytime, and your dream (life) is over

It is the best analogy ever, no, but it's not lol bad like you tards are making it out to be. They are under great stress, and these 23 people are their only friends right now, and they live together, eat together, and perform together. If you don't think bonds that last a lifetime are forming right now, and that real tears are going to happen when your friend goes home, you are wrong.

I can see Katie going a long way in this season...The whole thing with her grandmother was great for connecting with the audiences and she sang great before the live shows...all she needs to do is have a couple really good performances to grow an even larger fan base.

Lily is more like Didi. Not very similar to Crystal at all.

I don't disagree.

will you agree all three of them, along with Katelyn, were fighting for the same votes? The fact that Didi did really well last week was bad news for one of those two, I just didn't think it would be bad for both.

Compare AI to MLB all star voting. Say the starting line up, 9 players, is like making the top 12 on Idol.

Would you agree that the starting 9 players in 1 league are not always the best 9 players in the league in that first half of the season?

Just think of it like Crystal, Lilly, and Didi; they are all 1B

Say Paige is; C

Say Katie is; LF

You could argue, and be right, that all 3 of the 1B are better than the starting C, or LF, but, you can only have so many 1B on the team.

The way american votes, the votes get divided up for many reasons. Young/old, black/white, girl/boy(top 12 and beyond)

The fact that Dide/Katelyn/Crystal/ and Lilly are all white girls, who aren't super young, puts them all in competition vs. each other. Maybe ppl who voted for Lilly last week thought Didi was really good, and voted for her instead.

The people that voted for Paige last week will vote for her no matter what, that much is obvious.

So back to the analogy, Paige might not be better than Didi or Lilly or katelyn, but what she has going for her, she is the best black female left (ie best C)

This is just a pattern I've seen emerge over the last 5 years on Idol.

Young/girl votes = Katie
Young/boy votes = Tim/Aaron bye Alex
Older/girl = Chrystal bye lilly
older/boy = good bye Lee soon enough cause of Casey
black/guy = mike was great bye todrick
black/girl = paige was awful but, no one to take her votes.

if she makes the top 8=9, eventually her base won't be able to keep up with the frontrunners.

the more I think about it, the more I have another part.

It's more like every team getting a representative on the all star team. Maybe the best player on the Nationals doesn't deserve to be there, but he's there.

Paige is there...

I think you're the one that doesn't understand the concept of analogies.

Watching Idol this year is similar to reading one of TheHip's post.

that's actually a simile.

i think hip is a good poster, and this year of idol is not bad on the whole, so it's a decent simile imo.

I was just posting my love for BoB. I won't watch the show until the whole series is done, so you won't have to worry about that.

Am I really ruining Idol for you? If so that's pretty funny.

FWIW, the WWII analogy is a stretch, but there is a bond that develops that most of us won't experience because of the massiveness of idol.

The MLB All Star game analogy is spot on.
