Haha, you heard that too? I actually only heard that weird accent yesterday, and it was only in the first part of the song. It reminded me of Tatianna from last year who would have close to perfect English one week, and then a thick Spanish accent the following week.

I like Bob Seger, so I guess I'll take the Casey James version of Heaven. Sure David A is a better vocalist, but he sings in a style that does not interest me.

I agree.

For me originality, authenticity and being interesting are FAR more important than a technically great voice.

My favorite singers are Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, and Neil Young so that will give you an idea what I like.

The "style" that David A sings in relation to Casey James is "better"

I'll jump on the Lee Dewyze bandwagon that was going around. Of course, he has huge edge simply from picking music I like. Give me rock, country, folk, and blues. Lounge singers and high school musical have no shot with me. Of that ilk, Aaron Kelly is the best.

I was shocked by Alex not falling over dead. He came a lot farther in a week than I expected. I like his voice and song choices, but his fear is phobic. Still, so much better this week.

Grossly huge muscles are generally a turn off, but I have to admit Michael Lynch was looking kind of hot. Of course, Casey James....mmmmmm.

Sellers amuses me, I find Todrick very likeable, and John Park is hot, but I'd be very suprised if at least one of these boys is not with us next week.

Big Mike was amazing. Dewyze was ok. Everything in between was a huge meh. I mean not super bad (ok, maybe Jermaine), but not like "jump out of my seat, wow" good.

Look at my post...I bolded the part wherehe said "Andrew: meh this dude sucks". That's what I was referring to. Pretty absurd opinion especially compared to everyone else who vix was saying was decent or middle of the road. You don't get the pimp spot in the first week of the show because you suck, nor do you become the favorite to win idol at 4-1 (Vegas odds FTW) because you suck, nor do you get the most air time, anticipation, and votes in week one cause you suck.

What made it great was a combo of everything. Great arrangement, he sung it perfectly, it was original and creative, and it was a song by a former IDOL judge. Just listen to the original then listen to his cover right after...huge wow factor. Still wondering how people are knocking him all of a sudden just cause he didn't have two 10/10 performances which is what everyone expected out of him because of Straight Up. Go back and listen to his sunday morning audition...vocals are definitely on point.

I'm not so sure. Reuben was a wire to wire winner. Also, you put Kelly in the same competition as Fantasia or Carrie, and who knows if she survives.

I agree she wins S5, S6, but David Cook was so good every week, it would be tough.

I think Kelly takes S8 though.

AND, what's more, if they ran Season 1 again from the start today, and it was the first time anyone has ever seen Kelly or Tamara, or anyone, I think Kelly wins in that year only 50%.

There really are a lot of factors that go into winning AI, one is variance.

we aren't talking about who's got better style, because obv Casey does, we are talking about how poor his voice is compared to someone that can actually sing.

And once the other girls and guys get comfortable, they can get to that level, Casey never can.

This just in, Lee is a 3rd rate David Cook, without the vocal chops or originality

It's likely, but honestly it's way too early to make this judgement.

John Park
Either Jermaine or Todrick, leaning towards Jermaine

Whatever happened to David Cook? He had like 1 or 2 hits then nowhere?

no its not

i've been watching AI since season 5, and have since gone back to watch seasons 1,2 and 3

During the top 11 last year, I said there were two people that can win, Adam and Kris

I had David Cook from the auditions.

My point is, I've watched a lot of Idol, I am a musician myself and have seen countless number of local bands and national touring acts.

Lee is a pretty good singer, and would be a killer lead singer in a 90's-present Alt rock cover band.

However, he isn't good enough to win AI, and never will be.

All this talk about Lee and Aaron Kelly is going to be moot once we see the top 10 girls perform, with approx. 8 of them being better than both Aaron and Lee

He is working on another CD.

I would say Cook is more successful than Kris Allen will ever be, but Cook won't ever be as successful as Kelly or Carrie, ldo

Jermaine's first audition was amazing. I feel like he has a ton of technical talent, but his later performances just seem like a platform for him to show of these technical skills and he doesn't seem to perform the actual song well imo.

Andrew is very very good. The judges definitely have a tendency to judge performances based upon comparisons to their past performances, and this hurts him(and helps a lot of the weaker singers).

Crystal could easily become the frontrunner with a standout performance tonight. I thought her version of Natural Woman(Hollywood week) was one of the better performances so far.

I like Casey's style(I'm a guitar player myself), but his vocals just aren't good enough to win.

Lee definitely has a radio friendly voice. My problem is that I hate 99% of today's bands, so I don't really think I'll end up liking him all that much.
