1. Siobhan was the best for me
2. Bowersox good, just wished for a different song
3. Didi not bad, she's like Megan Joy if Megan Joy wasn't tone deaf
4. Katie awful song choice, she sings well, like a girl version of David A.


noticeable gap in talent

5. Katelyn a lot better than I thought she would, might stick around
6. Michelle not bad, but not great


7. Lacey ok singer, you could tell she was super nervous


8. Lilly not bad, but no one cares about her, and will be gone well before top 12


9-12 who cares, they were all brutal

Paige Miles - Going first is hard. Good vocals but kinda forgettable.
Ashley Rodriguez - It was ok. She's hot.
Janell Wheeler - Do want. Not bad at all. Has potential.
Lilly Scott - This chick is awesome. You know, except for the hair.
Katelyn Epperly - Another solid performance. Cute chick.
Haley Vaughn - At times it was fantastic, at times it was messy. Weird.

Lacey Brown - Started off horrific. She got better at the end. Worst so far.
Michelle Delamor - I want a Michelle and Janell sandwich. Oh also she's excellent.
Didi Benami - Fantastic voice. Hot. Judges harsh for some reason.
Siobhan Magnus - Weird beginning. Low notes weren't good. Rest of it was cool.
Crystal Bowersox - Oh wow she can play harmonica. Whatever. Simon is right.
Katie Stevens - Decent. Not much to say.

Overall rankings are very difficult. Nobody was awful. Nobody was great. I'll give it a shot though....

Pretty close between her and Michelle for the top spot tonight imo. But like I said nobody really stood above the rest and only two of them were bad at times. I think these girls are a good group even though none of them wowed us.

I haven't watched as closely the past two seasons. Has it become commonplace for the judges to give such specific advice? They seemed to be doing a lot of that tonight.

I though Siohban Magnus was best

I think Michelle, Siohban, Bowsersox, Katie Stevens, and Janell (for hotness, not signing) will be in top 10. Sleeper pick is Ashley.

Idol keeps telling us these girls are great. About 9 of 12 of these girls are karaoke good, and that's about it.

I thought Katelyn was really good tonight. I might be a little biased bc I find her look super attractive...like way more so than "ya duh, she'd get it obv".


I'm a huge Wicked Game fan ever first seeing that video as a young horny preteen, so I was pumped before Siobhan even started singing it. I thought she started off iffy (first few words) but pulled it together well after that, plus she didn't do that annoying thing with her hands.


I thought the black girl that sung Alicia Keys was also good which brings up another point -

I think the judges are getting a little carried away with the "make the song your own" line. Yes, I think its cool when someone takes a recognizable song and sings a version you may not of heard before. I really think its cool when it is on a night where they have to sing a specific artist or genre that they may not fit in with naturally but....

they are for the most part out there singing great songs by great artists that had tremendous success in the format everyone recognizes. To fault them for not altering it seems kind of odd if they sung it well.

Nobody really wowed me tonight with the possible exception of Lacey Brown butchering Landslide so badly. It's an ear pleasing song. How do you mess it up that badly?

Overall, I'd say satisfying episode, but nothing blew me away. 11 and 12 are spot on--I hope they both go, so they probably won't. I'd have to say I liked 8,9, and 10 a little more than you did though.

though.... i just realized all the judges liked miles. so fml, i guess she will stay. I think when there are 13 ppl or w/e the least memerable singer get heavily penalized. there was no one who was totally awful. maybe vaughn was the worst technincally, but i think she will have more fans than:

Benami

I'd presonally want brown and benami off the most.

Yeah, it doesn't sound good at all initially. I probably marked her down too much for that because once she picked it up sounded very good. Think she started on some notes that were too low for her voice or something.

I think the girls are better than we think they are. I'm sure they were all nervous, and they will get better.


The fact that 10 of them sang anywhere from ok to really well is pretty impressive. The two that sang poorly are decent as well, just didn't do well tonight.

I'm sure the girls are stronger than the guys, but i'm interested to see how it goes tomorrow.

The two bad ones weren't even *that* bad. Usually at this stage you have 4 or 5 who cannot sing worth a damn. Tonight nobody had a great performance and there were some poor song choices but the singing abilities of these girls is higher than the last two years. I think when we get down to the top 12 and some of them have a few performances under them we will see some true talent emerge. Could be just about anybody.

right, last year, the talent was so thin, they couldn't even do the format they are using now.

Last year, lets get to the top 12 this way.

6 get in on one performace, 6 get in on a 2nd performance, 6 get a 2nd performance and done.


so from 19-24, 1 song, 13-18, two songs


this year the 13-14 singers will get at least 3 songs, and the almost everyone gets two songs.


last year the bottom was so bad they just chose a format that gets us to the ppl that actually can win.



and I know I mock Megan Joy, but put her up against these 12, is there anyone she can outsing? no

Bowersox, Didi and Scott owned everyone else was meh at best. Lacey was one of the worst I have ever seen on Idol.

man that girls teeth are sooo much better lol, i expected better from the show tonight but found myself pretty bored watching it.

Meh, all the girls were clustered pretty tightly around mediocre and forgettable.

Did anyone else notice that Kara has huge Dumbo ears? Obviously accentuated with her hair pulled back, but man they are huge.

no1 mentioned this yet... but i thought ellen was good; considering it was her first live idol show
