Def thought he was an act. Also the first one and several others. The only question is whether they specifically get people to do this stuff or if they just find them, know that the people are bs'ing, and put them on anyway.

Who were the original horrible ones? William Hung, the Like a Virgin dude (act), and then one more that I can't remember...

This is the easy answer but it is also the one I believe. I think it's all of the above. I think the AI people see someone they think would be appealing to the masses as an idiot. I think they also have some people come to AI by the request of AI. They gotta spice it up somehow. I think that's one reason Simon is sick of the show. Besides he already has more money than even Isildur can blow on PLO.

I guess it was just me, but I thought it was hilarious when douchebag guy responded to Simon's "Why are you here?" with "I think its pretty obvious why."

All of the acts go through several auditions before seeing Simon and the other judges. Most of these auditions are really really short(5-10 seconds even) so you have to make an impression really quickly....either be funny, good, or controversial in some way. This is a big reason why so many people are so confident when they meet the judges- because they've already made it through several rounds while they see others being cut.

The auditions were a bit too polarized imo...it was either great or hilarious/stupid/awful. Very little in-between, no really tough cuts.

If you like AI, you have to read Television Without Pity's AI recaps.

They are insanely funny and occasionally brilliantly insightful.

The guest judges are totally useless so far (as expected I guess). I also thought the crazy guy from last night was actually decent but creepy as hell. No really great people so far.

I cant remember but in past years have winners/finalists ever been on these early shows?

I think the crazy guy would have been alright if he didn't try to be so loud (probably a better technical phrase for that).

You could kind of tell he might sound decent at the end of his notes when the screaming wore off.

Definitely remember seeing Clay from the very beginning. I was just wondering how the timeline works. Are the 32-40 (whatever it is) finalists already chosen, or are they still being narrowed down?

The "almost died" dude bit was legitimately sad imo. He wasn't being intentionally ridiculous like many of them are, and they ripped on him so hard with the comments and re-enactments.

Ok, the judges really need to stop with the "one billion four million five hundred gazillion percent yes" line now.

I think the live show usually starts with 24 people? 12 guys, 12 girls.

I'm really enjoying this season so far, unfortunately. I really don't want to like it because it's such a time waster. My strategy for this season is to watch every ep until the end of hollywood week, then skip all of the shows until we hit top 5. Imo I feel the top 24 until top 5 is a total waste of time.
