Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I'll keep watching for now but man was that awful. The nerd twins are unbearable. Ninja chick is pretty decent. I hope they let her stay a hard ass.

And yeah, lifeboat scene was godawful.

That lifeboat solution was stupid beyond words and I'm surprised it was allowed to happen on a Whedon led show. I think it demonstrates how hands off Whedon is going to be with SHIELD due to his other priorities.

Obvious attempt to recreate the Firefly ship by using the tricked out plane as the primary set. I just feel it's VERY unlikely this cast is going to be able to gel the same way as the Firefly gang.

And I still hate the wonder twins. I'm going to watch the first 6 of these because I must have faith that Whedon has a bigger plan but I'm not feeling overly optimistic about it.

I'm really curious as to how many viewers they can lose by the end of the season.

Lots, apparently. Huge drop in numbers between week 1 and 2.

Week 1: 4.7 (18-49 share) / 11.9 million viewers
Week 2: 3.1 (18-49 share) / 8.4 million viewers

I guess we'll find out next week if it's going to stabilize around 3 or if this is a freefall.

I'll guess 2.8 next week.

Kinda not great but okish second ep imo. I like the scientist characters.

The show dropping viewers between the first two eps isnt shocking at all. It happens to pretty much every show and you cant draw any conclusions from it.

How the **** do you guys know a lifeboat wouldn't temporarily plug that hole, do we have a bunch of physicists in the house?

The hole that was dragging 200 pound men out of the plane? I know it's a SHIELD issue lifeboat but I don't think it was built from kevlar and adamantium.

Plane had finished depressurizing by then so "suction" at that point was just wind+air speed along an aerodynamic shape and not the explosive decompression of the original breach.

(I can't believe I'm defending this).

That the plane could actually still fly, or the fuselage didn't completely tear itself apart is probably a much bigger deal...

No, the plane wasn't finished depressurizing. The lifeboat was thrown over the hole just in the nick of time so the good guy wasn't sucked out of the plane.

How much is whedon involved in this?

I thought the episode was slightly better then e1, but not by much. I guess I'll give it a few more eps. On the bright side arrow returns in a week.

If you guys are gonna argue about the depressurization process why isn't anyone complaining about it lasting through like a 5 minute fight when in reality it is probably pretty much finished in under 10 seconds.

As long as there are still people left in the plane, depressurization can go on forever. Every time they breath out theres new air to be taken. You guys know nothing about physics and try to critisize a fine show.

Joss Whedon was heavily involved in development, co wrote and directed the pilot. Jed Whedon and his wife are showrunners and the three of them co-created the Agents of SHIELD show. They all also worked on the Avengers movie, btw, so its not like its some huge nepotism conspiracy how Jed got involved in the show.

Joss probably gets involved with the big picture stuff but he definitely isnt there day to day. He is too busy doing stuff like rewriting Thor 2 at the last minute (cos it was a huge mess before he stepped in) and making Avengers 2 to be there day to day on Agents.

Throw in a guy who was heavily involved with Angel and was showrunner in its last two seasons (which were great) and the showrunner of the first two seasons of Heroes (which were great and HEAVILY ruined by the rest) and that is the core exec team behind the show.

First two eps both horrible. Will still watch the season probably.

They might just be crowd testing a bit and it'll place itself at some point. It's a weird genre that cater to a lot of different group with different ideals. There's no way that this team doesn't produce something great after a few eps.

Very ordinary opening two episodes. At this rate there won't be a season 2.

People are going over board regarding the lifeboat. I mean they're incredible. It helped Dexter survive a hurricane, so a little mid air pressure difference is nothing. I feel that it's only a matter of time before it's on the cover of Time Magazine "In Lifeboat we trust".

It seems to have no particular audience. It's not aimed at kids and is too immature and cliché for any decent adult.

I'm giving it one more episode, because I want to like it. I don't like it's chances.

I'm usually the guy yelling at people for taking physics and history too seriously in tv shows, but the lifeboat thing was pretty bad.

Not so much that it plugged the hole enough that the SHEILD agent was saved from being blown out of the plane, I coulda accepted that as standard TV Scf-Fi action stuff.

The fact that it created such a perfect seal that you didn't even hear the slightest hiss of air continuing to eject from the plane is what made it horrible.

No. You are still taking it too seriously. It was probably pretty realistic and at least it was TV-realistic. In a show with radio watches from the 30s, flying cars from the 60s and alien energy weapons made by surviving Nazis in the 50s I think the thread nitting over the lifeboat plugging the hole in the plane at all is really quite dumb.

So far I'd say worse. I think I gave No Ordinary Family 3-4 episodes before quitting.

I'm just not feeling this show. It has been fairly confusing to follow, the characters are not compelling at all, and the plot so far has been pretty boring.

Plus, I guess with the Marvel name, I kind of wanted more superhero action. I know this is a show about the agents, but still. If Marvel wasn't attached to it, it wouldn't feel as lame to me.

Didn't Indiana Jones use a life boat to jump out an airplane? They're great.

The show is meh, but i think all the girls/women are hot.
