I suppose this is true because s6 was so unbelievably awful. But for me the first 5 seasons are a lot better than s7 and s8, which I would classify as mediocre overall.

grunching since last week:

basically lame finale, Jack didn't off anyone. character wise it's kind of nice to see him humanized, but we all love kick ass Batman Jack Bauer and we didn't really see that.

the run up to the finale was amazing though, so I can forgive them

also, we will see Bauer do crazy ninja stuff in movies so I'm ok

This could be an acceptable ending IF the last scene was of jack laying there and we see the blanket go over his head and elminate the Jack first person camera view of him looking up at the masked hitmen.

This way it leaves mystery. Is he dead? Alive? Knocked out?
Not sayin this would be the best or better ending, just playin with ideas.

S2 is awesome...minus the Kim subplot. Every Kim subplot has been so tilting. Just watched the episode where Jack whispers into Nina's ear after they shoot her....via imdb:

I didn't like the ending (turning to the drone to say goodbye was a little melodramatic, etc.), but overall it was a pretty fantastic episode. IMO presidents don't go from threatening utter destruction of a Middle Eastern country to turning yourself in within the span of an hour. I wish everyone didn't come to their senses.

I'd rank the seasons but I can't remember which plots belonged to each season lol.

Just saw the episode. Pretty damn good. I personally would have liked them to take the route where Jack spares Suverov but Chloe manages to expose the coverup. Kind of lame to see Taylor come to her senses like that right at the end.

Would have also been badass to see Jack put a bullet through Suverov but that could only have ended with Jack getting shot at the end.

Yeah, I think Chloe exposing it would have been a better tact. I always expected Pres Taylor to come back around to the good side though. It's not out of character either but I don't think it was the best possible ending. I agree with what somebody else said earlier about the final episodes of 24 always being a bit of a letdown relative to those leading right up to it... the first hour of the finale was epic and the second was just kind of in line with how they tend to handle the very last episode.

Earlier this season I was hoping Jack would get to go live his life with his daughter and grandchild. I don't know why I just think it fits... and I'm not big on happy endings. But if anybody deserves a happy ending it's Jack Bauer.

This is true. Season 3 was awesome in that they kept the suspense up till the very last minute (Chase's hand).

mehhh the final hour was a huge let down for me. There were too many last-second backouts. Jack not killing suvarov, the President changing her mind, the hit squad letting Jack go. Pretty lame imo

That being said I'm obviously pumped for Jack Bauer on the run. But I thought the season did such a good job of being unrelenting and unapologetic, it was really sad to see them cave in at the end.

GG everyone, I really wish i played this game for previous season finales. It so much fun while you're watching. When Jack said "My daughter" i was like "WHOOO HOOO". And LOL when Chloe pointed her gun at Jack Bauer but against her will.

Pardoning Jack means only Russia goes after him.
