I thought it was all over after that epic last clock to 00:00:00.

Did I call it or what? Jack lives!

But to be honest...I wish he didn't. Because that ending was a serious letdown to me. What would've been more fitting, I think, is him killing himself in the end there. They offer him that window of opportunity to run, and he doesn't take it, citing reasons for being tired of running and wanting to protect Kim so no one goes after her. Then we get a view of that bridge and hear a gunshot, boom. Silent clock.

But maybe that's just me. The idea that Jack is still "out there" is also good.

His heart hadn't stopped so I say he's alive. By my count I got 20/24. Not bad but I really should've known he'd mention Kim. I'm dumb.

Your ending is pretty good.

But you can't have a 24 movie without Jack Bauer.

lol i think you need to remember this is made for a mainstream TV audience and not most of us who would sit there and yell "HOW SHAKESPEARIAN! IT'S A HAMLET METAPHOR! HEE-HAW!"

him killing himself would be so ****ing depressing and leave an awful imprint of the end of the series. they would never do that. suicide isn't the way jack would go, either, unless he absolutely had to.

I thought that while it was happening and was just thinking "Nah, they can't do that". I also wouldve hated it to see Jack kill himself.

I also thought that it was a pretty awesome shot with Jack on the screen and Chloe, Cole and Arlo standing in that room, had a dramatic feeling to it (as in a drama play, dont know the fitting word, english isnt my native language..).

gonna keep this avatar for 8x 24 hours now...

I'm not sure how I feel about this ending yet, as well as the last hour as a whole. I knew he wasn't gonna get whacked by some random, so that kinda took the edge off of it for me.

Nevertheless, it was a great season. Totally owned Lost, and I wish that were not so.

All in all- best season since Day 2, imo.

Killing himself is a pretty sucky way to go. But when you think about it, can anybody really kill Jack Bauer, except maybe Jack Bauer?

The fade-out ending was awesome though. Totally had that "this is it, Jack's gone" feel to it (for all we know, he could be living next door to you right now ). As usual in 24, it was a cliffhanger ending where we now speculate whether he made it or not, and it left a great sense of closure at the same time. That's what I love about this series, they always knew how to get that balance between closure and cliffhanger in their finales.

Man...I'm a bit choked up here. I'm not gonna cry like a wimp, but I've seen every episode and this ending is a hard pill to swallow.

Shameful ending to promote the movie that will obviously suck.

I was hoping Michael Madsen would pull up in Hurley's hippie-mobile- with that catchy 70's song playing- and ask Jack if he needed a lift.

The ending would have been way better if Jack's electronic recording got out at the very last second and the President went down in shame. Her having a moment of pause when signing the treaty blew.

Kinda leaning towards this, yet hoping to Christ you're wrong about the movie sucking.

I wish I didn't suck at photoshop as I would super-impose Logan's head on Stephan Hawking.

I'd consider myself a pretty big fan of the show having seen every season twice except #7 which I don't own yet, but I didn't get choked up at all. I thought the ending was too full of badass Jackness to get emotional. Sure, Chloe crying tugged a little at the heart strings but I was too stoked that Prez Taylor did the right thing, Pillar got his and Jack is left open-ended for a movie. Last night's Lost on the other hand had me emotional the whole way through. FWIW I'm a very casual Lost fan and as such enjoyed the end of 24 much more.

QFT. These two shows ending was the reason I picked up Leverage a couple months ago which comes back for the 3rd season in mid-June. It'll now be on the top of my to-watch list every week.

Well if Charles Logan is in it as some super villian vegetable in a format that is completely new to the writers (movie rather than a 24 episode tv series) then I don't see how a movie would be anything other than complete fail.

I think these guys demonstrated some pretty serious chops by keeping the tension as high as they did this season. Gives me hope that a movie might actually deliver.

During season 6 I started to feel pretty much obligated to watch the show. I started falling asleep on it, and really not caring about what I had missed. Plus there was so much unintended humor, what with the painfully bad scenes between Sutherland and Rena Sofer.

So I was pretty surprised at how solid Day 7 was, and that Day 8 delivered on the level that it did. Gives me hope that a movie might be ok, but I hope that they will wrap it up once and for all on the silver screen (in the event it comes to that).
