People have short memories. 24's peak has never been as high as Lost's Pilot, Through the Looking Glass, or The Constant.

ex: 24 - end of S1 - unreal. 1st ep of S2, first 15 minutes have your jaw dropped... there are so many others... a nuke exploding in the US? no way - but it happened on 24! killing presidents, killing anyone/everyone... 24 has simply had more "mind blowing" moments over the years imo. LOST has had some, but i feel that 24 has had more and better.
im with you here, i prefer 24 to LOST, i like both though for the reasons you mentioned. Its just a matter of opinion and taste really, i can understand why people prefer LOST, its more complex, the writing is better, less dumb sideplots, yada yada yada, but i prefer 24 for Jack Bauer (no character of LOST comes close to him in awesomeness) and also, the overall theme is a lot more appealing to me (real time, fight vs terrorists > sci-fi-life on a lonely island), i also liked LOST a lot more when it was "realistic" (not sci-fi i mean).

Can't believe we're two days away from the end. I'm gonna miss this show so bad, it made so many of my Mondays bearable in the past few years. I remember in the earlier seasons when we had a few college parties during the show and people did the damn it drinking game and all that. I can remember the shocked gasps and the shouts of "awesome" whenever someone died or when Jack got all badass. The rollercoaster ride 24 brought me on has been like no other. I've loved a lot of TV shows, but this one has probably had more impact on my life than any other.

"...Jesus Christ, Shorty, it's just a TV show."

i think discussions on whether 24 is better than lost belong in the apples and oranges forum

They are both fine shows, but can never be compared to each other. Formats are about as far apart as possible, each 1 hr dramas and that's it. Even cross over viewers would be in the minority.

ps, both pushed for new concepts about 1 hr serialized TV shows, so both deserve the recognition they receive.

This was his 3rd reincarnation. Shows over so he's over, but damn he made for some fantastic twisted, both politically and mentally, plot lines.

Ya, he's always been a pretty great character.

Just forgot how weak he was initially. He couldn't manipulate anyone back then.

Yeah, agreed on that. When he came back at first I was &^%$$^&* what are they doing, but he just got better and better(more ****ed in the head) each time.

If they don't bring Mandy back for the finale, then he's the next best nemesis.

Do you know what "nemesis" means? A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent. Personified in this case by an 'orrible ****... me.

I have funds from 6 players + myself so I'm assuming it lines up. Looks like a $35 prize.

I love 24 and have seen every episode from every season, but it's nowhere in the same league as LOST.

I love how crazy Jack has gone this season, hopefully the Russian's knife entered the first stab wound, minimizing the injury.

Also love how an unknown women tried to call the president of a country, and due to being insistent, was put on with her daughter.

4.5 hours to go. Any last minute predictions?

I still say Jack will survive this season.

I didn't think Jack would die preseason, but it seems like a pretty distinct possibility now. It doesn't seem like there's any way out of this really, even if the conspiracy gets out he's going to be ****ed.

Tough call. Jack living or dying could easily go either way.

Traditionally Jack is a tragic hero. And 24 loves killing off characters that they are done with.

But how can they off their best character?

My prediction is the show ends with a silent clock.
