Iran would probably be near the bottom of the countries that I think Hassan's country is supposed to represent. I would guess that he was the leader of the PLO, and that Fatah is back in power. They keep referencing a peace that has eluded leaders for generations. What peace eludes Iran?

The IRK were trying to develop nuclear weapons with the help of the Russians before Hassan took them to the negotiating table to try and forge a peace. Excellent episode - not sure if I agree it was one of the best ever, but after a real bad string of episodes the season has really picked up in recent weeks.

I thought it was strange that Dana was able to handle the waterboarding (an outlawed and extremely feared torture technique that even the most hardened, fanatical combatants eventually crack with) relatively easily without giving up any information, but the second Bauer shouts at her and starts a countdown she instantly give in.

I mean what's he going to do if she doesn't give up the information? Kill her? He's gone rogue, they are in public and she is his only lead.

Yup. If your only lead won't give you the info you need, may as well kill Dana. Jack is kinda win/win here.
