because he killed people partly for revenge, like Dana Walsh.

Did the ending remind anyone of something else?

Spoiler:
The Truman Show?
Spoiler:
Yes?/No?

what. that would be turrble. jack isn't the suicide type.
Sure he is.

Season 1: He offered himself to the Drazens in exchange for Kim.
Season 2: He was going to drop that nuke before Mason stepped in.
Season 6: He gave himself up to the terrorists at the premier, even saying that dying would be a relief.
Season 7: He originally wanted to sacrifice himself at the White House where Bill Buchanan did.

If he knew it would protect Kim and Baby Teri (which it would have since the Russians will now go after them), he'd do it in a nano-second. So to be honest, I'm surprised he didn't.

The final clock counting down to zero to signify the end of the series was a cool unexpected twist.

I watched first few episodes of this season, then started not watching when baseball started, should I bother wasting my time watching the rest of the season I missed?

Jack explicitly mentioned Kim in his video recording. It can be heard very vaguely when President Taylor is listening to it.

Great ending and a great season. I think bringing Logan back was an inspired choice especially him offing Pillar.

Can't wait for the film!!

Not a waste of time at all.

Easily one of the best seasons of the series

I was watching at my friend's house on a TV with the closed caption stuck in the on position, it does say Kim.

During season 4, if you would have told me that Logan would turn out to be my favorite 24 villain ever, I would said you were out of your mind.

I thought the ending was a little meh. Not enough carnage. But somehow still appropriate. One thing I did like was that, in the end, Jack did bring down a Presidency. That he did so by recording a video to Kim was a little surprising, though.

The ending was definitely like Dark Knight. I don't remember Truman Show to say if that's accurate, though.

Its the only way it could have ended though if they wanted to keep Jack alive. He had to sneak off into the wilderness after all the murdering he had done that day.

Agree with everyone on Logan. He was great

this was a pretty typical 24 ending imo. for as many surprises as the show threw out over the years, i think the ending to each season was always unremarkable.

season 1, maybe, but i saw terri's death coming a mile away. season 5, maybe, but i was not surprised as much as saddened that jack is gonna have to get tortured for a couple of years.

i kind of wish jack had died at the end. it would have been a more fitting end to the show than the same old jack rides off into the sunset. oh well!

Do you really think him dying would have been satisfying? Like, if the last ten seconds were him getting his head blown off followed by a silent clock, do you really think you'd enjoy that?

Agree with you there Kev on both points. Can't really think of a different way to end it...

The film should be good though.

did anyone else but me think that Jack was dead was taylors sassistant told her "we didnt make it" and it showed them covering jacks face. I thought that woulda been an appropriate way for him to die. In fact I may have liked that better than the real ending.

Anyone?

no, if jack were to die i would want the entire episode to play out differently. i'm not saying i wanted that random henchman to blow jack's head off with 10 seconds to go.

This ending would be cool for any random season, but not as the series finale. Oh wait, it was a cool ending for a random season, because it is the EXACT same ending as s4.

I'm pretty surprised how many people found this to be a good ending to the entire series.

S1-S5 and S6-S8 are like two different shows to me.

Please don't put 6 in with 7-8. 7-8>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>6.

One problem I had with the finale was Dalia's speech in episode 23 to Taylor about her husband and how much he admired her, and gave her the pen. It just felt so anvilicious.

Got a good laugh when every five seconds Logan kept staring at the window when Jack had him hostage.
