Even worse, Samir dons his mask at one point and we start to see the video on the Pres's screen about 75 seconds later. Problem is, Jack shot Samir and then the video still rolls for about 2 minutes, so apparently Hassan was killed by a dead man.
No holes (for once). Samir snuck out before they got there and is still alive. The video was shot before they even got there, then was shown online on a delay. I'd assume he knew they would be onto him quickly, so he killed Hassan, staged the video and left, leaving the rest of his group there to make it look like he was still there.

Samir couldn't have snuck out because CTU would have seen it, there were only 3 people in the room pretaping and postaping, and the written recap of the episode on the show's website says he died.

Samir is putting his mask on at one point (Let's call it 12:00:00.) and the president has started watching at 12:01:15. Giving him 1.25 minutes of lead time, which means he couldn't have left AND the time from when Jack shoots him until the tape stops is more than 1.25 minutes

doesn't dissecting the ridiculousness of 24 seem rather ridiculous?

To a certain extent, yes but I'm not at that point. I'd like the show to make sense, and if it doesn't and I notice I'll mention it but I'm not all "SHOW'S RUINED THERE WAS A GAFF!"

Yes there is about about 75 seconds between putting on the mask and the broadcast. Anyway Samir kills Hassan on the presidents screen about 90 seconds after he gets killed by Jack, so 20-30 seconds isn't too far fetched for 24 with the whole delayed broadcast angle.

As you know 24 always has multiple major "threats" that get resolved throughout the show. The Hassan story is like the 4th threat of the day. Assasination attempt, locating the rods, the dirty bomb, Hassan. Take one of those out and I bet they make Samir leave the room and let the video play on, but it's coming to an end so that is why they sit there watching the video.

With 24 you can't really be nitty when seconds don't make sense, since there are times when they shortcut 5+ minutes.

Pretty sweet ending there. I don't watch the previews so I dunno what is happening next week but I guess it all comes back to the Russians.

a timing gaff like that is pretty minor compared to the liberties taken with the premise in virtually every episode - jack getting from one location to another with almost no time allowed for travel etc.

the show will never make sense. have to suspend critical analysis or it will drive you nuts.

Like the end of one episode, where President Logan is getting undressed to get it on with Mrs. Logan. Then at the beginning of the next episode, President Logan is getting dressed again.

How can it not involve the Russians? They were the ones selling the fuel rods at the beginning. And why did the Russian foreign minister make an appearance last week? I see no other direction for the show to go.

At the end of the episodes where the getting dressed happens, Jack gets kidnapped in a warehouse and 7 minutes later the season ends with a shot of a tanker in the middle of the Pacific, that one was golden.

I'll take it

The speech Taylor gave to Weiss about flipping the switch on him for treason would have been awesome coming from him

Most likely the Russians wanted Hassan dead so that they could move into the region or accomplish so other goal.

The Russians have probably been supplying Shamir and playing him for a fool so he would kill Hassan and they wouldn't be blamed. They likely intended to get rid of him anyway, hence Dana's willingness to give up their location so easily.

At least that's one theory.

Do you mean hated as in a well written character that you are supposed to hate?

Or one that you just wish was never on the show?
