^^^it is mind boggling to think that Dana could be on a personal/cell/untraced phone in the middle of CTU on basically the most dangerous day of all time as far as everyone else in that building is concerned. i simply cannot allow this to pass. the writers should be ashamed of themselves. it is beyond suspending disbelief... its a slap in the face to any semi-intelligent '24' viewer.

2 hours next week?! sweet! it looks like we're in for a decent opening 20 minutes regardless;
besides the unforgivable Dana plotline i thought this ep was great. loved Jack taking the "hostiles" advantage away w/ the smoke screen. i love how he stays calm and always has a plan ahead. surprised that he didn't pick up one of the dead guys guns but it seems that he has masted the headshot kill with the Glock. it wasn't as good as the scene w/ Nina when they hold off the hostiles from the Heli (and then she takes him hostage in a sick level by sneaking a clip) or the escape w/ Heller and Audrey from the TV broadcast, but it was close!

But more than the fact that he needs to be alive for a movie (unless they decide to do a prequel), I think the writers don't want to kill him because A - that would be the most predictable thing to do, and you know how much they hate doing predictable stuff, and B - Jack Bauer is one of the most marketable characters alive, Fox would never, ever allow him to die while they can still milk him for more money in their pockets.
my prediction is that the movie is a level and they are going to kill him - and i like your idea of a prequel as that gives the writers a way to do both!
