Well, time for some DVR decisions.

Why does Chuck, 24, HIMYM all come on at same time?

Think I'm cutting out HIMYM.

A few observatons:

Anyone figure out why JB and the "bleeding informant" choose to walk to the precinct when there is a line of cabs waiting as they exit the builing?

I can't stand the POTUS either, she was horrible last year, I expect the same this year.

I expect I will hate this Hastings guy so much by ep 7-8 I might quit watching. (in before racist ban)

One thing I've been trying to figure out is why the journalist said "It'll get done" in that sinister tone of voice when she had no idea there was an assassination plot. Can't figure out if she was referring to her interview and just randomly said it in that tone of voice or if it's just bad writing and I'm overthinking it.

someone on twitter predicted that chloe dies this season. i think that's a pretty good wager. she's been alive for way too long, avg life span after joining CTU is 2 yrs; jack is practically Methuselah at this point.

I don't think Jack dying would be a good way to go out. He can't die. Would prefer happy ending to that ****.

I love that 24 will kill anyone off at anytime.. but I've really enjoyed Chloe being immune.

I might be annoyed if she dies.

Carlos Bernard ... Tony Almeida (115 episodes, 2001-2009)

I wonder how they'll work Aaron in this year - I think at this point they know he's a fan favorite and they'll find a way.

I always liked the Mike Novick character too, hopefully (but unlikely) he'll show up when
(cast stuff)

I'm glad to see the writers didn't waste time this season and introduced FPJr as a mini-Jack in waiting ready to take the spinoff show into an entirely different level of ridiculousness.

At least they've decided to change the plot for this season....

Assassination attempt of President of xxx: check mark
Female President: check mark + massive fail
Moron head of CTU: double check mark
Jack 8,381,318,948,903 steps ahead of everyone else: always
So many story lines in the first couple of episodes that they are just setting up to confuse people and certainly have a ton of plotholes which every nit on here will point out: triple check mark
Oh last but not least someone on the inside very close to the President/one who is going to be killed but not who the viewer thinks it is but oh wait it's so completely obvious at this point that there's always that "double twist" which wore out it's surprise element after an epic season 1 finale that will never again be topped in the show's history

at any rate...for a premiere I'm pretty disappointed, but I will continue to watch just because of the badass axe scene and similar actions done by Jack that happen 4-5 times a season. Plus I've stuck around this long, I'm not going to miss Jack Bauer's swan song.
epic take. bravo. "entirely different level of ridiculousness" made me lol.

no, he has to die as a hero to protect America from terrorists. It has to end that way, any other ending will make the show a failure. It has to show that people are willing to die to protect Americans, and that Jack Bauer is a American Hero.

A happy ending will make this a failure, IMO.

Just my opinion. But showing Jack getting close to his Grandkid, and also finally getting close again to family is definitely a bad sign for his possible death.

From wikipedia:

Spoiler:
"Day 8: 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m."

Set in New York City, amidst the shadows of the Statue of Liberty and the United Nations. In this new day, CTU has been renovated and is run by Brian Hastings. The season begins with President Taylor and President Hassan trying to come to a deal between their countries. An informant who has worked with Jack in the past shows up at his door saying he has information about President Hassan's assassination at the UN. When trying to transfer the informant back to CTU, the helicopter is shot with a rocket launcher and they are stranded on the roof. Meanwhile back at the UN, a reporter is having an affair with Hassan and is causing tension between the family and his advisor.

"Day 8: 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m."

Jack agrees against his better judgement to go back and be debriefed at CTU. Meanwhile, Dana discovers a lead named Meredith Reed, the reporter having an affair with Hassan, after incriminating files were found on her computer in her apartment. However, Chloe thought this was too easy of a discovery and thinks that whoever is behind the assassination set these files on her computer to divert CTU elsewhere. She tells Jack to talk to Hastings because he won't listen to her but Jack says no because he wants to go to LA with Kim. When Kim gets to CTU she convinces Jack to stay until the conflict is solved which he does. He then takes weapons and follows up on Chloe's lead named Davros, the same man who shot the helicopter with the rocket launcher.

Naw, they just always make the CTU director out to be an idiot, but they're doing what they have to. They don't have the luxury of the guesswork that Bauer and Chloe do.
