Believe this deserves it's own thread, only just getting going with 7 episodes out thus far; the writing for this show is excellent and has Deadwood vibes. Also Tim McGraw is simply superb in this.

Follows a 19th century family on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of uncolonised America.

It's also the prequel to Yellowstone and how the Dutton family made their way to Montana.

This is outweighed by her general hotness, but the Isabel May narration is the weakest part of this show.

I think you have to really go back to how stories are told in the genre. He's doing it very much on purpose actually. Same as how a lot of characters names are never said (another genre cliche). It makes sense inside the context of Americana and the Wild West.

You're listening to her poetry and it's kind of on purpose that it sounds the way it does. That's exactly what her writing in a memoir would sound like as she documents her tale in the late 1800's.

ok if that's the case and it's intentional that makes me feel a lot better cuz I was so confused what on earth was going on given his other work.

i like the narration (maybe just me ) i really like the genre grew up on westerns.

Im just peed off now that i see its near the end of the season. Will have to wait ages for new one.

I like how yellowstone is incorperating the dad in flash backs now it is tying it all together also.

"Paramount+ is keeping the wagon train rolling for a while longer: “The next chapter” of Yellowstone‘s prequel spinoff 1883 will debut later this year, the streaming service announced Tuesday.

At the time of the announcement, it was unclear whether the streamer was referring to more Season 1 episodes or a Season 2 renewal. The original Season 1 order was for nine episodes.

In addition, Paramount+ has ordered to series another Yellowstone prequel, titled 1932. Per an official release, the offshoot of the popular drama will follow a new generation of Duttons during the time of western expansion, Prohibition and the Great Depression."

Watched the first episode and couldn’t agree more. Her terrible accent is worse than the cheesy words.

Satisfying end I must say. A little bummed they are doing S2. This would have been better left untouched. But I'll give Sheridan the benefit of the doubt.

Won't give away the ending:
Spoiler:
What's cool is NOW I get why in Yellowstone, Dutton won't give up his land. Every son swears it to his father based on this. Pretty cool.

Agreed, I enjoyed the bittersweet finale.

I'm also a little dubious the "next chapter" was a good idea but let's see.

I have 3 episodes left and it has been great. I'm guessing the sequel will be the 1932 show. I am glad this is a limited series. Tell your story, don't drag it out and move on to another one. It gives me hope that all of his other new shows will be similar.

yes makes sense how long can it be 1883 for

so making 1932 makes sense. For the next generation to be grown up etc.

I really like james Dutton character in 1883 i think McGraw done a really believable job there and his character has lots of avenues to take.

Spoiler:
Im actually looking forward to seeing more of the younger John dutton (kevin costner - who is actor Josh Lucas) from the flashbacks seen in yellowstone but im guessing that will be like 1970/80s or so.

A+ show. One of the best in recent years. Every character was good, but McGraw stole the show.

I was hesitant to start 1883 because I thought it was more Dutton stuff. I didn't care for Yellowstone S4 or Mayor of Kingstown so my assumption was that Sheridan had too much stuff going on and it would be mediocre. 1883 is The Oregon Trail. It has little to do with the Dutton's or Yellowstone, it is about the brutal trek to Oregon. It seemed like an accurate portrayal of the journey without any nonsense. My biggest gripe was Elsa's narration and it was bad early, but it got better and became a key part of the show.
