Is The Rake in Europe beatable? Is The Rake in Europe beatable?

I want to make The Transition from live NLHE to live PLO, Because The biggest Games played in my area are all PLO and The skillgap beetween good and Bad players is much bigger than in NLHE These days..
i‘m just Wondering if 5% cap 25 is a beatable rake for a 5/5 game. Rake in Europe sucks, and pretty much every Casino has a Similar Rake Structure. Games play Deep (Lots of 200+ stacks) and there are always players who like to gamble. Anyone from Europe who Play in Games with this Rake and have a good winrate/samplesize?

200 is very short for a typical 5/5 game imo.

And yes that rake sucks. I don't have a huge sample size in European cash games but im confident it's beatable if the game is soft enough.

Should be beatable, but the rake does suck.

The equation for this is relatively simple, although solving it can be tricky in big bet games. That said, it’s a reasonable heuristic.

Amount that can be won by winning players = Amount lost by losing players - Rake

Im not sure how many hands per hour are usually dealt and/or how many are walks or are below the max, but let’s assume that itake is something like 700 an hour. That means that the table you are at has to have losing players that are donating that much PLUS whatever you and the other winning players hope to split.

Said another way, are there one or more players who will walk in and drop 700+ an hour and be ok with that? If not, the game is probably not beatable over the long term. If so, then it is. The magic of big bet games is that the losing players don’t always know that they are losing players due to the natural variance. That said, a good player will know the approximate -ev of the donating players based on their leaks and/or the hands they show down.

Note that I have definitely seen casinos that were very good at keeping poker whales happy, but those rooms are rare.

I know the lowest rake cap in that game in EU is 15 at a 5/5 game and the 5/10 games can have 20 caps with a 2.5% rake. The UK and Spain perhaps. If the PLO50 online is beatable, then that should also be relatively beatable. Anything below PLO200 is pretty much over-raked online when it comes to PLO, so the softness of the game is a definite plus.

700 an Hour Sounds a Bit overrated to me. You See max 20 hands/Hour in Live PLO and if all The hands reach The cap (thats pretty unlikely)House can take max 500/Hour from The table.

In my Area (netherland and Germany) they all rake 5% cap 25. Thats pretty nuts. We have free Drinks and not Need to tip, buts it’s an awful rake anyways

Whatever number you pick, and you probably have a much better idea of that number than I do, the fundamental equation I mentioned still holds. Are there enough donators to cover €### euro per hour in rake as well as winnings for the winning players? Based on your ability to correctly identify the donators and their typical contribution to the poker world, then you have your answer about whether the rake is beatable.

In my local casino in Germany but I will not say where it is, the rake is THE NUTS! In a 5-5€ PLO game the rake is just ONLY 5€ up to a 100€ pot and it doesn't matter how big the pot is but you have to give a 1% tip. Everything under 100€ is rakefree btw.
