in order to get to a live PLO game i have to drive a couple hours. do any of you live PLO players travel to play games and/or struggle to find games consistently?
because live players see less volume, games run less frequently than NL, and live PLO can be wild im assuming that the downswings are very brutal
what kind of downswings hve you experienced in your time playing live PLO?

You should move. 30 BI downswing was my worst.

there are several areas in the US where PLO games run pretty much around the clock
downswings are not fun, my worst was 8,000 BB

down near 150 bi in 6months, would be up way more if there was no river card in plo
including loosing with nut flushes against straight flushes, with top sets against rivered bigger sets, topsets against sets who rivered quads, floped sets against overpairs who have gone runner runner flush, flopped straights against overpairs who went to runner runner boats and obviously the funniest loosing flopped quads against straight flushes.
good luck

Be careful playing after a long drive, as you will often become fatigued earlier than normal.

I've been lucky. In 3000+ hours, my worst downswing has probably been less than 15BI, but I play a relatively low-variance style.
I get enough games within a couple of hours to play enough for my needs. I do occasionally take trips, but that is as much to take a vacation from playing with the same jerks every week as it is to seek out more and better games. There are some parts of the country where you can find consistent games.
It's not too hard to find weekend games. The key is to find consistent weekday games where you can justify driving four hours and getting a hotel room because you can play two days in a row.

12000 BB but there was almost always a straddle on in those games so really 6000 BB. Was 30 buyins but might have lost more buyins in shorter games just less BB (probably like 40-50 buyins and 4-5k BB).
I travel a lot looking for games. Hard to find places where casinos are open 24/7 let alone PLO games 24/7. Really up to you to decide if travels reasonable or not. When I started I used to play in a game 2 1/2 hrs away one way through the country roads and had to get there when the game started or I’d be on the list for 5+hrs but the games were worth it and if I could find a game like that (and preferably bigger) again I’d travel farther for it.
