Online 6-max. PLO1000. 100BB effective.

PFR (very lag but not a drooler, raising as wide as K229ss UTG, etc.) raises from UTG. CO calls. Hero in BB with Ad8hKc9d calls closing the action.

3-ways to to flop.

Flop: Td8c2d

Hero(BB) checks, UTG(PFR) checks, CO checks.

Turn: Td8c2dKh

Hero bets pot. UTG PFR flat calls. CO folds.

River: Td8c2dKh2c

Hero bets half pot on the river.

Hero is seen as TAG. Villain(PFR, UTG) is very very loose preflop, but good post when he is not tilting. Will barrel off if he senses weakness.

Post action thoughts:

If I check river, he is going to bomb it with any 2xxx and I will feel obligated to call since so many draws missed.
But I really feel like my line is suboptimal.
With my half pot on river line, he calls with better and folds all his bluffs <---- thoughts?
Maybe the population underbluffs this spot with QJxx, J9xx, diamond:diamondxx by the river(edited)
Can just check fold river, but it feels weird with a hand this strong..

This was my initial reaction to your bet too, couldn't really figure out if you're bluffing or valuebetting

Hero is clearly value betting.

Seems like a decent spot for a 1/4 pot river bet. Fun player going to call any K and maybe even some QQJ type hands.

First off, I'd definitely lead the flop with NFD, a pair, and a bunch of overs to make 2 pair. On the river, I actually like it. I feel like checking just screams "I have a good 2 pair that I'm going to call with" and it makes for a real awkward spot if your opponent bets since as you said, a lot of draws missed, but he should kind of know your hand too.

By betting, you should get calls from a lot of Kxxx hands and occasionally worse too just looking you up to see if you had a missed draw while also losing less when he does have a hand. I don't have a balanced range for 1/2 pot bets so I feel like it would kinda put me a little faceup in this spot, but if you 1/2 pot the river regularly with a range that includes stronger hands and bluffs, I like this line a lot.

Never considered leading, as I usually default to checking to the preflop aggressor. In game, I wasn't sure if I was going to check raise a cbet as there really aren't a lot of hands that smash this board. Since I have the nfd and straight blockers maybe this board does get checked around too often so leading is definitely something to think about.

Some good players have also advocated this sizing. We have to also consider that we might ourselves into a difficult situation. Why? Because this bet looks like a blocker bet. I usually go bigger with my full houses here...

It was a I wasn't sure what the best play was so I defaulted to a bet strategy.

Oh, by the way. Happy New Years everyone.

This hold 'em way of thinking is completely illogical in PLO.

OP, I would base my river decision mostly on how sharp villain is. Most losing players will bluff this river if they missed draws, so if you have him pegged as a bad or even “meh” player, i would opt for the check/call. If you believe villain to be a good player who understands some more advanced concepts, i’d opt for about a 1/2 pot bet like you did here, perhaps even a little less.

As for leading on the flop, I personally would not typically do that but I can totally see the merit behind it. At only 100BB effective, you’re never really torching money by just getting this in asap. Could be losing some ev, but certainly not torching it

How is this a High stakes PLO forum and everyone is not 100% onboard with the fact that leading in such spots is a huge part of strategy? For someone playing 1000 NL or even 100 NL to say "i never considered leading" is astounding and sounds like a troll. If serious, first response from everyone should be "move down to 2NL"

In this spot, with this hand, I never considered leading. Not, I never lead into the preflop aggressor. But in like, 90%(making this percentage up) of situations I will check to preflop aggressor.

It's so subjective, but I think villain is a good hand reader. He or she opens up far too wide imo, however I've seen villain tighten up when people behind him catch on and just started hammering.

Results. Villain had KJ92 rainbow and called my half pot bet.

Lead the flop, you can make bare OP and some pair + SD fold and that'll clear up your equity

As played I'd either block smaller or check, but 1/2 doesn't seem bad either.

I think rivers too thin and a good c/c candidate.
