Yesterday we started playing PLO high 8 and 9 cards with two boards.
So you can win on two boards or split or often win one and split on for 75%.

we were 4 and sometimes 5 players in a 14 hour session.

Blinds were 2/2 with a fixed buttom straddle of 5.

I noticed that flush should always be drawn to the nuts. We had at least 20 times four of a kind in this session and 4 times straight flush.

Does anybody have any experience with this? Any strategy suggestions.

Needless to say it is a major action game and hardly any pot was below 500. Most pots were 1000+.

I often go searching on YouTube for pot limit omaha content. Yesterday I noticed several streams of live casino poker games. This has become good free advertising for the casinos willing to stream. And the games often have announcers giving commentary. One particular stream that caught my eye was a 5 card pot limit omaha high low game (Big O). I was playing my own 4 card PLO online poker table, but decide to listen to the commentary of the stream just for the heck of it. It can be enlightening to listen to even if not the exact game you play. See if you can find anything to watch or listen to for tips, even if not the exact game you are playing. There are probably a few vloggers posting double board games as well. I've seen at least a few hands of double board on YouTube, but can't remember a particular vlogger. It will give you more showdowns and player tendencies to see.

Also, sometimes you read a book or now more often view some video that is awesome information. Years ago I read a section of a book that I found extremely valuable. It wasn't a 2+2 book so I wont mention the name. But it talked about the connectedness of boards.

This was just in a regular PLO book. But my guess is that understanding connectedness is extremely important in double board. I saw a hand where the player had the nuts on one board and a mediocre hand on the other board. And they bet. The problem from my limited understanding of 5+ cards and double boards is that on the particular hand I am talking about they had the nuts on a 49% connected board and there was a good chance their nuts wasn't going to stay the nuts by the river. Sure understanding re-draw is important, but so is understanding what current nuts are likely to hold. Therefore, in my opinion their bet was horrible. For example, pot control is insanely important in double board especially if there is not much fold equity on the flop in a multiway pot. But good luck, and don't be surprised when you get conflicting advice. You are going to have to choose the opinions you listen to wisely on this "it depends" sub-forum.

I'm of the opinion if you're playing double board 8-card PLO you might as well flip coins in the parking lot.

I'm sure there's a winning strategy beyond "gii with a nfd 36 card wrap and top set with a triple redraw" but not sure if it would make a significant difference before whoever runs the hottest out of the gate breaks the game

Strategy gets easier with more cards, as equities run closer and you need to play tighter all streets than 4 and 5 card.

You want a suited ace always, broadway cards and big pairs are good. Straight flushes become a lot more probable and should be a small factor in hand selection.l when we don't have nut draw allready.

Wheel cards besides ace are also much worse than 4 and 5card.

non sens plo 6cards 3 boards is the best variant! But it has to be played deep.

double board 8 card PLO starts to feel an awful lot like Chinese poker. So many cards are known, we're looking at pretty simple decision trees.
