Opening from EP, playing 9 handed

Opening Guidelines for the first three spots in a nine handed game?

Adjustments for game conditions would be a bonus.

Nine handed games are found mostly in casinos, home games and small stakes online.

Re: Opening from EP, playing 9 handed

i personally would say, only pure premiums, i would actually even shy away from low rundowns such as 9876 and lower.

I wont play low double pairs, to me it is a recipe to get stacked.

Maybe like KK33, i might even consider folding TT22.

As above but I'm definitely playing at least single-suited rundowns from 4567 and above, though that may be a leak.

As to the gappers, they need to be double-suited for me to play with the gap at the top, say, 5679 minimum, bottom-gappers I'm playing everything from 3567 upwards.

Hands like 8876ds are potentially playable too but these benefit from cheap flops so it's a case of playing them when you have an EP limping range.

Low double pairs do awfully multiway and you're essentially quads-mining. A hand like TT99ds, though, is top-tier PLO sexiness and you'll struggle to prise those cards out of my hand preflop, any game, any stack depth.

Partly agree, probably play those low rundowns if there are regs picking on you on a low dry board.
if tons of fishes, maybe i would limp in with low RDs

I would think you need a strong balanced limping range from first 2 spots

Re: Opening from EP, playing 9 handed

depends on the table conditions
i've played in games where i wouldn't dream of playing those low double suited gapped rundown in early position bc every flop was 7 ways and games where they would be profitable to play.

having a 1 size fits all strategy for every table doesn't make sense.

Sure.

Winning players usually have a basic strategy they deviate from based on additional information, even if they have not written it all down.

Though, as you are getting at, players can have different basic strategies for different game conditions.

I wonder how many non perfect ds rundowns a monker solution would put into EP range. Wouldn't surprise me if it's folding KQJ9ds and 689Tds. It's gonna be a wild and Axxx-heavy ride that's for sure

if you can't play those hands profitably in live poker, especially the kqj9 ds from ep then you should quit plo

I'd be shocked if bottom-gapper double-suited rundowns get eliminated from EP ranges by a GTO solver. Equity doesn't just come from making the nuts or even the best hand, it comes from being able to semibluff, and KQJ9ds makes a lot more opportunities to semibluff, let alone top and top two pairs, than Axxx-types.

Re: Opening from EP, playing 9 handed

8max (soft) livegames:
I like to play with a limp:
- Any suited Ace with some connectivity like A87x, AT9.. etc sometimes A45 and A34. People tend to overplay their AKx or sets on low boards.
- Any 3 broadway cards single and double suited without Ace.
- Some random double suited one, two or double gapper like 579T, Q976, KT87. careful here to not overplay this hands and play more opponents tendencies to check some flops and than try to attac some playable turns, or sometimes donkbet with two pairs and play aggresive on some turns.
- suited Ace with pairs A55, A77 and so on..play blockers aggressive, if table is passive and tight..
- I like to raise in EP:
Good rundowns and some big double pairs and KKxx and even sometimes QQxx at least single suited with some playable connectivity, the xx card like T9, J8, 76
- Any other premium hands and almost all Aces.
