From a 10/20 hand someone played and discussed. Would like to hear what people think of it.

6max. 5-handed, folded to player in CO with

3 5 7 Q

player opens in CO to $60, BTN calls. 100bb eff

flop comes 8 Q A

player bets $120 into $150, btn calls

pot - $390 - turn comes 8 Q A - 6

At first he talks about check/call's viability because betting and opening himself to a raise here forfeits a lot of equity that doesn't need to be folded.

However, he then says the other side of that is the hand has almost no nut potential, and check/call turns the hand faceup.

Moreover, villain is an aggressive opponent who will be able to play quite well OTR vs a faceup range. The player doesn't think barreling garners much fold equity, but he prefers that small gain compared to giving villain so much information OTT/OTR in addition to their positional advantage.

Check/call OTT was what I was originally inclined to, myself. But I think the player makes a lot of sense with his points.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

i'm probably too wide pre and i don't even open this in CO. i just bet turn unless dudes a nit then i c/c turn and bluff kjt maybe 7 and 5s. not enough value in c/c to just hit and reverse implied odds make it pretty bad. Probably never c/f or c/r but its probably better then c/c in some spots i guess.

This is a trash hand that is looking to see a free river once the turn rolls off. Calling any decent-sized turn bet is the nut low. You have 6 nut outs, no good two pair outs, and a horrible flush draw.

Do we ever have a turn c/r range here

Hand wouldn't be so face up if we did, just sayin

I thought this was an o8 hand earlier. I think turning it into a triple barrel bluff is correct as played. If called and we make a flush its tricky choosing the best line.

If we are reasonably certain opp will bet quite wide when checked to, I like a c/r (of course, this means we also c/r sets in this spot). If it goes c/c, we can re-evaluate river (and also go for thin value on some runouts that will make our bet look bluffy).

Otherwise I much prefer betting the turn compared to c/c.

honestly, the biggest mistake people make in PLO is pre flop, despite being double suited this hand has negative implied odds on all your flushes making it a <50% hand...double suited is over-rated by a lot of PLO players

sizing is not good on the flop, we are only 100 bigs deep and it's a very committal sizing

definitely have to barrel this turn for a bunch of reasons, the first one being that we should have FE on blank rivers, there is an incomplete wrap on the board and most of the wraps that make a big hand should have already raised either pre or on the flop

second is that we have to build our value on the turn for when we make a hand because we will be transparent as the board connects on a lot of rivers and villain can essentially play perfectly on the river

river is gonna get tricky when called, we may have to check our flushes and bet when we don't have showdown value such as a 2d, anypair on board for the river will have to be a bluff, another reason we have to bet the turn

and it's not always a bluff, the Q actually gives you showdown value to bet with to charge his flush draws
