Hi all,

5/5/25 (mandatory straddle on), $1400 eff. Three limps to hero in straddle who checks option with JJ99d8d.

Flop ($100): Jd-Td-6c. Hero $100, two calls from rec players (V1 BTN, V2 SB), V1 can be on tighter side, V2 less so.

Turn ($400): 2s. Hero $400,V1 all in for $350, V2 calls.

River ($1550): Ad. V2 donks $400 into a $100 side pot. Hero?

Thanks,
DT

I'm confused as to what your actual starting hand is.

What's so confusing? JJ998 (JJ, 99, 8) with 9d8d, no other suits and no blockers that might be relevant later on...this is plo5.

My bad, didn't realize it was 5 card PLO. Op doesn't specify.

I mean we are getting a very good price, which is a reason to call.

Villain can easily value bet ace high straight. Given very attractive pot odds we just call the 3rd nuts and don't think twice.

Ace of diamonds is also in many ways a safer card than king of diamonds or a queen of diamonds that did not complete our straight flush.

This would be a much tougher spot if villain bet larger, but hero should certainly win at least 25% of the time - note villain can have a worse flush too - and thus this is a trivial call.

Your op even describes villain as non-tight rec making call even more attractive. This hand should not even have been posted.

With the third player all-in he doen never bluff with nothing so the minimum he has is a quite big set. But if he thinks that you only call with near nuts he can bluff with a baby flush or a straight or even AA (something like AAQ92 no suited ace with Ad so he does not want to commit pre) or TT because if you fold a middle flush it is quite often enough to get the whole pot.

I disagree with most of the responses. He is not betting a straight or a 7 high flush. The pot is protected, and your spot is really close. Given price and vague villain description I call here, but vs tight players this is a fold for me.
