This is why stars policy of with holding all information behind banning accounts doesn't make sens. There is no way for us, players to critique the way they deal with one important evolving aspect of poker.

Re: Massive bot ring on PokerStars and how to spot them
Im not sure why people expect an instant ban or freeze on these accounts. .. the required burden of proof for stars might not be as high as in a court of law or whatever, but it it is certainly higher than it is for us.
As long as they dont allow cashouts/are investigating... maybe im an optimist.

Some interesting discussion I found on botters forum:
So they might also be able to cashout the money..

Re: Massive bot ring on PokerStars and how to spot them
Like 1-2 mentioned before, even if stars is able to ban a lot of the accounts it doesnt really matter, and this fact is making the whole situation unbelievable terrible, the reasons are:
1. Bot Accounts usually will cashout very often if they arent dumb, so most of the money is gone anyway
2. People who have such an criminal energy will just open new accounts with names from their cousins or whatever when one of their bot accounts is banned and **** is starting again and again
3. It's no surprise, there hasnt been a separation of the poker market in poor eastern European countries yet, because politic doesnt give a **** there. This only happens in wealthy countries (France, Spain, Italy...) And this means there isnt even a 0.001% chance something will happen in countries like Ukraine, Kazachstan, Belarus.... to take legal action against these online criminals. Like someone mentioned before: they are just freerolling by doing this. RIP plo

Re: Massive bot ring on PokerStars and how to spot them
Don't stars require to verify your account ID to cash out any significant amount? Once a player is banned for botting and their ID is void, how can they keep playing/cashout on a new account?
Hmm Yeah I guess they could use a friend or cousins ID to play, no way to prove its not them, until they bust for botting again and need a new ID.

Re: Massive bot ring on PokerStars and how to spot them
a few min ago Fedor seemed to try to appear human like: when the table broke, he chatted with bong bob something like :
'sorry'
...
'don't want to play you HU'
...
'let's wait until somebody sits in'
(bong bob just replied politely that he doesn't care )

this is extremely interesting, but will be too educational for botters imo. even though they probably visit some bot forums, don't think you should give away the info inlcuded in those links

Since i've read from Greece 2-3 years ago that there have been a few thousands of cases where family members took the old-age pension of 100-120 year old relatives who died 30 years ago, because they just didnt tell the local authorities that the relatives died, im pretty confident they will find ways in Eastern Europe for new IDs to register new accounts, if necessary more than 2-3.

I guess getting new IDs is a very small problem. They could just offer 100$ per month to random people, who dont play poker.
If one acount gets busted, on to the next one. Is there anything they have to fear? Not really in my opinion...
sad

lol not sure if mentioned but just got linked here and noticed IDDQD, that is a cheat code for the old Doom 2 PC game. Sick name for a bot account.

for example, I found the website/forum and am reading a ton of stuff about bots. 2 things:
1. it may motivate more players to try and implement bots
2. things i read in this bot forum SCARE THE SH*T OUT OF ME, REALLY

Pretty much all botters know that forum just like poker regs know 2+2.
It takes years to build a winning AI and then you need all the stealth software so I really doubt those screenshots do any harm..
People should know how widespread problem this is.
Some botter called Zoom/Rush best invention since online poker for botting.

Re: Massive bot ring on PokerStars and how to spot them
Stars should hire some pro botmaker from that forum in their team to help develop software to catch others.

Re: Massive bot ring on PokerStars and how to spot them
i say for example i can spot the bots when i have played less than 2k draws with them if they are even close as obiovus as those all i have played with.
pokerstars should hire bit more "paranoid" people/people who are good in their jobs for real/even bit more motivated people/people who does take every customer seriously/OP for example. i think that hiring thing is not a big deal. and if people are spotting bots as fast as in ~1-5k palyed draws with them, im pretty sure bots could not win IF pokerstars does start to freeze money from their account also. just saying few of my ideas what first comes in my mind.

found the site to.. so many ridic stuff..
botters are fed up because they cant display there skills and what the programs actually are capable of because they have to be under the radar... lol
They make bots based on rules(on hand types or something?) or GTO based equity style(or something). GTO based style is apparently good for plo. It's even better to mix the 2 methods according to an forum user...

Re: Massive bot ring on PokerStars and how to spot them
how is it possible that there is a company in business now for 10 years selling bots (still the same internet domain name) and none of the pokersites are detecting their bots??? they could easily download the newest bot from their site and add it to their list of prohibited apps. i assume they do not find prohibited apps by file name (in task manager) because any little kid can rename a program into Notepad.Exe or Calc.Exe to look unsuspicious. they could easily find the program in the clients memory. i coded some stuff for fun, a few years ago, that could do search the client memory for patterns as fast as possible. it could detect 100 patterns within a split second.
if any site should be seriously interested, send a PM and I send you a demo....

He also was playing Zoom (apparently for the first time ever) while plenty of playable regular tables were available. Gotta balance your lines.

Re: Massive bot ring on PokerStars and how to spot them
trying to keep bots in balance is just too late now, this only proves that more they are bots. just like fedor jumped to zoom now.
seregaxx have never before asked me to play HU.
people behind this bot thing are running out of ammo.

Re: Massive bot ring on PokerStars and how to spot them
I feel like the creation of new accounts shouldn't be SUCH a problem if pokerstars puts in the effort to start paying more attention to this. Should be easy to code some kind of filters that whenever a newly created account starts putting in a lot of volume (especially winning) it would be flagged and they would look into it to see if it is suspicious or legit. It's not like players that create their first account at stars now and instantly start crushing should be popping up in the millions.
