just so that there is no confusion, i think he is talking about pokerstars security team - i think you said they were poker players (could be wrong).

Anyway, back on track.

Re: Massive bot ring on PokerStars and how to spot them

does stars ever do "family banning"? meaning "this guy looks like a relative" of the guy we just banned so hes not allowed to open an account. same address etc. or even going to more extremes. same last name, different address, but lives in the vicinity of the banned guy? that should be something easy to detect.

Re: Massive bot ring on PokerStars and how to spot them

Source; http://www.uspoker.com/blog/amaya-po...-eilers/11082/

Found via NVG amaya stock thread.

Anyone know the other geographical percentages?
Quote:
Russia

Eilers estimates indicate that “Russians account for some 15% of the total traffic at PokerStars.com.”

However, PokerStars’ ability to continue profiting off the Russian market in the same matter it does today remains a huge question mark.

In a bull case, PokerStars would achieve further penetration into the Russian market.

In the less impactful of the two bear cases, Russian officials regulate online poker. As per Eilers, that would come at “great cost to Amaya.”

Finally, Eilers suggests that should “Russian officials perceive that online poker / gambling sites are facilitating a material outflow, a crackdown could ensue.”
Mods. Pls feel free to move to a more relevant forum/thread if required/requested. Wasn't sure where best to post (or if even worth posting).

Felt this was important to share as most of the affected players posted in this thread. Also, not trying to blanket tar by geography, I hope for the legit russian grinders... most of that 15% are also legit players.

Re: Massive bot ring on PokerStars and how to spot them

This is a very big deal.

To the people implying Pokerstars is incentivized because of rake, etc. Remember Amaya is publicly traded now; that means they are held to high standards for systems integrity, fraud, etc. And also how they respond to these types of issues.

It would be like a fraudulent charge showing up on your credit card and them telling you tough luck. I wouldn't expect much in the way of refunds like you get with your credit card, but I think the fact they are publicly traded is a + here, if nothing else for bad publicity as a motivator.

10/10 bot rings were Russian

Time to enforce PokerStars.EU

(Joking, but I've heard arguments in favor of this)

Great work... Did they only play 1/2+ does anyone know? I have a couple hundred thousand hands at 100 and 50 PLO so I am just curious.

Re: Massive bot ring on PokerStars and how to spot them

If this all is true, I dont really know what to say...

If someone can make bots, that crush midstakes PLO (that should be a little bit more complex because of 4 cards), whats about NL Holdem MTTs with shallow stacks and a lot of just push or fold decisions?

GG online poker?!

this is probably worse for the games than botting itself.

also plz let smart ppl like Schwein and PS anti-bot-team do their job and cut the `ZOMG EMPEROR PLAYS TODAY SKY IS FALLING SOMEONE KILL ME I QUIT PKER` crying.

F.U.C.K you STARS and AMAYA

Its just disgusting, I dont even want to email their support or anything because its just mindless stupid drones running that sht now.

Not like Pokerstars would ever truthfully answer a question about why their security is as good as Partypoker now.

Re: Massive bot ring on PokerStars and how to spot them

Similar to iddqd55 and D33XTR there's also GOmoneyGOV who beats nl500 over 600k hands at 3.4bb/100 and has the same playing style: AFq 47 46 26, FvCBIP very low.

Plays a lag style but folds most of his big blinds PF.

I'm really chocked pokerstars let them play for so long. I Mean, what are they trained for?
so incompetent...

Pretty sure letting the bots play under the radar with a very slowwwwww effort by stars to stop the bots is probably the worst possible option.

If anything a huge effort to light a fire under Amayas ass by using social media to "help" them become better at improving their awful security.

The only way it would impact amaya is that it will scare the **** out of rec players, so it would be marginal loss for amaya and pretty big disaster for lot of people itt.

Banning players won't discourage the cheaters..*****y criminal penalty will.
Cheaters are essentially freerolling money here

NL has had fair share of sophisticated bot rings in the past.
Stars banned couple SNG bots like year ago or something...
