AA and low SPRs on bad-looking flops AA and low SPRs on bad-looking flops

Hi all,

Is there any flop, no matter how bad it looks, that you'd fold AA heads up on with a SPR <1? Like 89Jr or JTQ (assuming your side cards didn't connect well). Say you 3! enough to get more than half of your stack in pre and one of these flops arrives.

Thanks,
DT

The first task is to find out how much equity you need to stack off.

For SPR 1 it's 33%. Lower the SPR, lower the equity required.

You have the amazing free tool PPT. Use this (you may need to study the syntax) to work out your equity vs all possible stackoff hands in the player's range within his preflop range.

You will then see if you have the equity required to stack off in any given SPR situation.

Of course those who assess stackoff ranges better are more likely to get more accurate data, but by far the biggest difference between players is between those that actually run the numbers with basic, intuitive ranges, and those that don't bother, and are more involved in the emotional experience of the game.

So at SPR .33 I think I need around 16% and would not have that on 89J assuming V called with a rundown that included QT. But that's just one possibility. If I factor in a range that isn't exclusively straights, I think I have to go with it, even on these atrocious flops.
