That style of play in poker works far better when you are in position and are squeezing your opponents....yet in this instance you were OOP and were the one being squeezed
Context is everything bro - take a step back for as second and put yourself in your opponents shoes and how he played the hand. If you were him, wouldn't you be ecstatic that you got to raise your opponent on that flop? His equity is massive against everything but a set+ a wrap, so seems like he got the exact spot he wanted.
