HU PLO 600 - Facing Baffling River Shove

Villain ($600) is a pretty aggressive and somewhat fishy player both preflop and on the flop, especially in 3bet pots where he can really overvalue and get money in bad. However, he is far more conservative on the turn and river. He's usually pretty easy to read and not very creative, not putting his opponents in tough spots very often on later streets. However he is capable of making big turn/river bluffs, he just very rarely does this.

Hero (Covers) hopefully has a fairly balanced range of air/strength in this spot, but it's hard to say for sure what villain thinks of us.

3/6

Hero is otb w/ QT76 and raises to $16
Villain 3bets to $48
Hero calls

Flop ($96): T72

Villain checks.
Hero bets $65
Villain calls

Turn ($226): 7

Villain checks.
Hero checks.

River ($226): 2

Villain checks.
Hero bets $166
Villain shoves for $487
So hero needs to call $321 to win $879

This v's value range is TT/22 imo, he does NOT overvalue hands on the river.

So he very rarely makes a river shove here as a bluff, and he very rarely plays TT/22 so passively on the flop like this after 3betting pre. Which is more likely?

Re: HU PLO 600 - Facing Baffling River Shove

If you say that he overvalued hands PF and on flop, narrowing him down to TT/22 seems unlikely. Most people are c-betting this flop with any set unless they have the set+flush draw. If you have been playing with villain long enough to truly trust your read that he can never be bluffing here then I guess you can find a fold but IMO it's a call most of the time. Some villains (maybe not this one) may go crazy like this with trip 7's or 72. Also agree that turn bet is pretty much mandatory

Re: HU PLO 600 - Facing Baffling River Shove

as played i would fold river. I put him on 22, esp. with the 3bet pre.

I like the check on the turn. Maybe check flop for deception?

Gotta bet turn to find out where you're at, so you can avoid this tough river decision for all of your chips. Now you have to preserve your stack and find a better spot. His range for this line, given that you made a thread, is exactly ATTx with nut spades. I don't know what the fourth card is, probably like a jack or something. Maybe a heart. Yeah, I put him on AsTsThJh.

Hero has 0% equity against that, and the break-even equity is 26.75% so we should fold.

Weird spot, how often does he check shove river here with air?? I think is a cooler and a gross fold, but a fold! QQ is what I put him on, a lot of players flop nuts and check call for deception specially out of position. what was the result of the hand ?? its interesting!

******ed value bet on river, what are you even getting value from? I'd check behind river and be happy to have won a good sized pot

Re: HU PLO 600 - Facing Baffling River Shove

i don't think this is as tough as it seems guys, it's no secret that regs been 3betting 22 combos like crazy purely for deception reasons given that it's just a "sigh" river fold...

Just realised you may have been bluffing against TT trying to rep quads, even then I think the bluff might be too thin, particularly as you are blocking a T already, so trying to bluff such a narrow range of 1 hand is a pretty bad idea.

edit: Just realised there are actually lots of combos of TT. Here are a few:

TTAA
TTAK
TTAQ
TTKJ

There are probably quite a lot of others, I'd guess at least 10 more

Why everybody thinks only about TT and quads.

After your check turn he can't seriously put you on full house.
In his eyes easy to think that T2 would be the nuts here to check reise it after your checking turn-why not-easy. May be he thinks that u make thin value bet with just trips, than easy to check reise any FH. He even could do it with 72, its still possible thin.
