How Much Rake is Acceptable? How Much Rake is Acceptable?

I have been playing in a 1/2/5 hi/hi-lo game with a wr of $65/hr. I was recently invited to a private 5/5 hi/hi-lo game that is supposedly very juicy and plays huge, with games that can have $100k on the table at times, players have won $30k, etc. The problem is I haven't gotten a straight answer about the rake but one player told me "at least $15" is going to be taken out of every pot. The game I'm currently playing in has an $8/hr time charge.

The way I have it figured, we are probably getting about 20 hands per hour and I would think I'm not winning more than 2 hands per hour on average. So I probably need to have a pre-rake wr of about $100/hr to make playing this game more profitable than the one I'm currently in.

I know the stack sizes in my current game are no where near the size described in this game. The typical biggest stack you'll see is 5k, and the biggest pots are no more than 5k which happens once in a blue moon.

I'm not great at estimating game hourly rates. Can anyone tell me what to look for to judge whether playing this new game is a better decision than staying on my current game?

I had the same question about a game but for no limit holdem.

The home game is 5/5 NLH where you can buy in for any amount you want. The rake is $5 on flop, turn and river so $15 per hand if it goes to the river. The range of the rake for NLH would be $175-$525. I'd say it would be somewhere closer to $450 per hour. In PLO, if you say 20 hands per hour, that would be somewhere between $100-$300 per hour.

1. All players needs to be deep at all times. More money in play + more opportunity from different people to get that money.

-Think about this. If the game is solid, it'll be 9 handed all night.

1 person has a $100. 1 person has $250. 4 people have $500. 1 person has $600. 2 people have $1000. Total cash on table- $3150:

Vs
9 people have $1000. Total cash on table- $9000

2. People need to continuously buy in for large amounts at a time.

This is due to how much money is coming off the table. For example, in the 5/5 NLH home game, if you play from 8pm to 2 am (6 hours), that's $2700 dollars coming off the table. That doesn't even include other activities that happen throughout the night like bumps, massages and etc.

The last thing I would think about is the line up. If you can't beat the rake, it doesn't matter how good you are.
