The action online these days is much more spread out amongst various types of platforms. It's fascinating to me how things are evolving. With Party/888 making a push for relevancy again and RIO poker in the works at some point, I'm very interested to see how the PLO cash game ecosystem turns out.
Hi Joey, sorry for delay, only just seen your reply to me!
I set up an estate agency business in the UK (real estate I guess for you 'Mericans
) just over 3 years ago. It was super hard work at first (literally worked every day in the first year), but now I'm down to 3 or 4 days a week (depending how busy) as I've got a great team. It feels like a major relief to know that I don't have to worry about sitting in front of a computer screen for hours on end trying to get by financially! Also, on the other hand, I'm very proud knowing that poker helped me get to this position.
I don't miss playing online at all but I do miss the banter I used to have with fellow regs. Was never a big Stars player, but played FTP heaps and also various euro sites (SkyPoker was my favourite. So, so soft back in the day). Still friends with some of the players I met whilst playing.
Nice to see you're having such a good time in Vegas! Went to WSOP for the first time last year and absolutely loved it. Met some really cool people and the ME was just sick, the softest field I've ever played. Cash games were amazing too and that got me the bug back to play live. Will definitely be going to WSOP again.
The bots talk in this thread is a classic example of why I wanted to get out of online. Would be nice to see the big name sites do more about it, but I guess they couldn't care less as long as they're getting paid. Hopefully RIO does come online and cleans things up with a sensible rake, but the main problem I see is an even more reg infested play pool meaning the games are likely to be nittier and recs will lose faster while having less fun punting?
