Because of the reduction in variance, how much less of a br do I need compared to before with this option? What kind of br do I need for 10-20 and 25-50plo if everyone is using this option?

if he really has a strong read based on the game flow and tendencies of opponent and really thought that he was only on 1 pair or weak two pair, a shove would seem fine. It is still 1k more to call and your shove is going to look really strong. Obviously it would have weeded out hands like this and he would have taken the pot down in this situation.
